Republic, Colombia and Iran. After checking answers, check Ss understanding
of any new words in the texts.

Exercise 4: Ss work in pairs to figure out what things can be described with the
given adjectives.
Exercise 5: Ss write sentences about their country individually, and then in
pairs or small groups read their sentences aloud.
Exercise 6: Tell Ss not to worry about understanding everything in the
recording at this stage but to focus on the things Helen misses about the UK
and the things she likes in Spain.

Exercise 7: Give Ss time to read the sentences and complete them from
memory. Play the recording again for Ss to check their answers.

missing words before they listen to the recording.

Exercise 10: Play the recording for Ss to listen and repeat the words and
sentences. Emphasise the difference in length between the two sounds to help
