Start from the Park

Trt ... ... Trt Trt, the bell rang as a sign that the class
started. All Nusa Indah Elementary School students went to
their respective class in orderly manner. Adit and his friends
went to grade 4 classroom located next to grade 3s. This
was their first day as 4 th graders. Some moments later, the
teacher entered Adits classroom.
"Good morning, children," greeted the teacher gently.
"Good morning, teacher," answered the children in
unison.
"How are you today, children?"
"Fine ..." said the children looked spiritful.
"After a long holiday you certainly have interesting
stories, have not you? Later you try to tell me about your
vacation in front of your friends. First, we will introduce
ourselves to each other because I have not known all of you
yet. Have you also known me already? "

Linda. All four of them walked together. Their home had the
same direction, but the furthest one was Adits home.

beaming face.

by the others laughter. They kept joking in the journey to go
home.
"Why in my home?" asked Adit.
"Have we never been to your home, Dit. If we wanted to
visit your place, you definitely refused. Anyway, we will go to
your home. Is it right, friends?" said Sasa.
"Right, Sa ..." answered Linda and Reno in unison.
This time Adit could not refuse. Adit smiled, "Yes, you
may."
"Hooray!" yelled Reno, Sasa, and Linda simultaneously.

Linda, and Susi had came. After taking a nap, Linda went to
Sasas home. After that, they both went together to pick
Reno. They three went to Adits home together.
"Good afternoon," said them in unison.

Earlier Adit had already told about you guys. Please, come in.
Take a seat. Adit is still taking a bath. Please wait for a
moment, okay, "said Adits mother, welcoming them to sit.
The three of them sat while whispering to each other.
Sasa noticed a movement at Adits backyard.
"Look, there is a rabbit over there," said Sasa while
pointing at Adits backyard, "Cute, is not it?" pointed Sasa
while looking at it with adorable face.
"Yes, very adorable. Come on, follow it. Maybe behind
Adits home there is a beautiful place that makes that rabbit
happy, "said Linda.

fun playing with the rabbit.

confirming it. Be careful, it bites, warned Adit. Sasa just
shrugged him off, Do not worry. I can handle rabbits just
fine,
"Come on, guys, go here. Did not we want to observe the
parks ecosystem earlier. Lets we observe around us,"
invited Adit. They then began observing.
"Grass, flowers, pond, leaves, stones, pebbles, soil,
water, bushes, tree ..." their voice were heard one by one
mentioning parts of the parks ecosystem.
"Yes, right. Let's we copy it in our books. Although it is
not homework, it can be useful for us," explained Adit inviting
his friends to copy it in their respective books soon.

preoccupation respectively. Reno and Adit were back to
observe the pond. They talked about the fishes in it.
What fishes do you have here? Reno asked.
Just goldfishes, Adit answered.
Only that? asked Reno surprised.
Well, I am just a son of a pedicab driver. I can not afford

guilty.

Sasa was busy chasing the rabbit because she wanted to

was successful in catching the rabbit. She quickly put it in her
hug.
Meanwhile, Linda was enjoying the beauty of various
flowers. There were roses, jasmines, and orchids. She smiled
looking at the butterflies flying here and there.
Suddenly Linda screamed loud. Sasa who heard Lindas
scream instantly released the rabbit in her hug. Feeling a sign
of freedom, the rabbit fleed away. Sasa then approached
Linda. "What is it, Lin? Who dares to hurt you? Where is it?"
said Sasa with protective tone. She even made a stance like

someone who was prepared to fight. Linda just pointed at the

leaves besides her. Sasa understood that Lindas index finger
was directed at something on the leaves. Feeling curious,
Sasa then looked closer. After noticing that what they saw
was a caterpillar, both of them screamed together.
What was that? asked Reno who heard the voice of
screaming girls as soon as they fed the fishes. Adit and Reno
who was having fun observing the fishes immediately
approached Sasa and Linda. "Sasa ... Linda, what is wrong?"
asked Reno.
"There ... there is ... a ... a ... cat ... caterpillar," answered
Linda nervously.
Where? Where is it? Reno asked curiously.
There, Linda pointed to the leaf where the caterpillar
was. Her fingers were visibly shaken.
Reno tried to tease Linda. He took a small branch of a
tree, then poked the caterpillar with it. Feeling threatened,
the caterpillar straighten up its hair, making its appearance
more jarring. Linda screamed more histerically than before.
"Gosh, just a caterpillar. What is feared about?" Adit said
with a big smile.

It was sunset on the western horizon. The playing
children started to go to their respective homes. Adit and his
whole family ate dinner together while watching television.
After that, Adit studied with his sisters guidance. Adit was
often helped by her during his study.
"Earlier when Adit and friends were in the park, there was
a caterpillar, Sis. Sasa and Linda were afraid, they were

They also said that they preferred butterflies," told Adit
innocently.
Meanwhile, Sis Rani just kept smiling instead. Adit was

"Adit has not known about the metamorphosis of a
butterfly yet, has he?"
Adit shook his head repeatedly. "What is metamorphosis

metamorphosis of a butterfly yet. He had never even heard
that word.
Sis Rani explained patiently. "Metamorphosis is the
change of body form to become more perfect."
"Butterflies have been perfect already?" interrupted Adit
because of his big curiosity.
"Yes, the butterflies have been perfect already. Before
becoming butterflies, the animals were very ugly and people
feel disgusted as well as do not like seeing the animals. The
animals are avoided because they cause itching if they come
into contact with the skin. Has Adit already known?" baited
Sis Rani without direct mention of the animals being talked

Arriving at Adits house, the three of them went straight
out to the park. There were four cocoons there hanging
beneath the leaves. Adit and his friends observed them. One
by one, the cocoons started to rip open. A pair of wings
emerged from each of them. After a bit of struggling, a
butterfly came out from each cocoons.
Finally... said Adit relieved.
They are still weak, though, said Reno, seeing all of the
butterflies had difficulties in flapping their wings.
Let me help them, Sasa tried to help the butterflies fly
by exhaling her breath to them, but was prevented by Adit,

Why? Sasa was wondering. Adit explained, Let them
do it by themselves. We should not help them to do what
they are capable of naturally,
Sasa felt sad because she could not help but staring at
the butterflies which almost hit the ground. However, when
they flapped their wings once more, finally they were able to
move upward.

They look like butterflies but less colorful and have
triangular wings. Have you ever seen them? asked Adit.

Mrs. Nita said that not all caterpillars become

mother who was in front of the house was holding Ririn,
Lindas younger sister.

"I just caught a fever. Thank guys for coming to visit me,

Their wings are also shaped like a triangle, Adit explained.

Lindas friends were about to enjoy the meal, but
suddenly the moth above them came down approaching one
of the snacks. Adit took the snacks away from the moth that
the moth landed on the floor in the middle of them.
Now we can observe it directly, said Reno.
When I see it, it is not too bad, added Adit.
The four of them then enjoying the meal prepared by
Lindas mother while observing the moth. After they finished,
however, the electricity in the house suddenly turned off.

was a blackout. There were many insects surrounding it. The
insects were moths.
Look! Sasa pointed at the house.
Beautiful, are not they? said Reno.
Yeah, I did not expect that moths can give beautiful
view, too, Adit was amazed.
Hey, I have an idea, said Reno again.
What is that? Sasa asked.
What if Adit installs a lamp post in his learning park so
that during the noon there will be butterflies and during the
night there will be moths, Reno suggested.
And in-between, there will be a double amount of
caterpillars, Sasa shrugged. Adit and Reno laughed.
That is a good idea, though. Let me consider, said Adit.
The three of them then headed to their own houses. All
three of them and Linda had been close since grade 1. They
were bestfriends now.

Rain, Sun, and Rainbow
The clouds turned gray and coldness eventually
enveloped the air. The small rain was gradually replaced by
the heavy one. Adit sat beside Sis Rani who was reading a
magazine. Adits view was fixed to the outside, seeing the
rain fall. "Why can rain happen?" he said inside. He thought,
"Why is there water coming down from up there? How does it
happen? "
As always, when being curious, he immediately asked
people who knew more. Adit attempted to ask Sis Rani who
had been sitting together with him.
"Sis, please take a glance outside."
Sis Rani paused her reading activity, "What is it, Dit?
There is no one?"
"That is not what Adit means. See what is happening,
Sis? "
"Oh ... the sky is cloudy and raining now. What is the

about this mornings natures beauty. They expressed their
happiness by drawing and coloring rainbows. There were also
those who sang the rainbow song. A moment later the bell
rang as a sign that the class started. Mrs. Nita went to the
class, then led the students to pray before the lesson began.
"Good morning, children," said Mrs. Nita after finished
praying.
"Good morning, Maam," the students replied in unison.
"How are you today? Who are absent?" asked Mrs. Nita
roll-calling the students.
"Joni, Ma'am. He is sick, "said Leni whose house
happened to be next to Jonis.
"Yeah, thank you Leni. Why do you guys look so happy
this morning?" asked Mrs. Nita.
Burhan instantly answered Mrs. Nitas question. "This
morning, we saw a very beautiful rainbow."

house? "Joni asked in astonishment.
"We are visiting you, Jon," answered Adit while staring at

sit in the living room.

Andi yesterday afternoon," answered Joni.

"His name is Joni."
Adit and friends immediately ran to the front of the house
to welcome Joni. "Joni ... welcome," said Sasa pleased to see
Jonis arrival.

children's activities at that time. That day was the day of a
soccer match between grade 4 and grade 5 students.
Meanwhile, Adit was watering his plants. Moments later
Reno and Joni approached him.

He looked toward the ball being which was kicked by
Abed, a 5th graders. "So high, yet back down again. Why does
it always come down? "Adit thought.
Adit wanted to find out, but he felt really thirsty. He then
bought a drink not far from his resting place. Coincidently,
there was Mr. Badun who also was buying a drink. He was the
homeroom teacher of grade 5. Mr. Badun helped give support
to his students. Adit got the idea to ask about the curiosity to
Mr. Badun.
Adit asked inside, "Why can the ball be passed over
upway, then backdown again? What causes that? "
"Good afternoon, Sir?" greeted Adit.
"Good afternoon, Adit. Buy a drink too? "
"Yes, Sir. I am thirsty, "answered Adit.

writing immediately went bringing his ballpoint.
"Here, Sis," said Adit giving a glass of water. Sis Rani
drank some and there were still some water remained in a
glass. "Thank you, Dit. Please bring it back, okay. "

"You did not drink all of them, Sis?" asked Adit. Sis Rani
just shook her head, while continuing her studies. "It looks
like Sis Rani has a lot of task," thought Adit "Sis, put the
ballpoint to the glass to make it not thirsty. Hehehe ...."After
that, Adit inserted his ballpoint into the glass. Adit expected
that Sis Ranis attention was switched to him. However, Sis
Rani still did not care.
Adit finally decided to get out of Sis Ranis room. Briefly
