port mirroring capability available on the physical switches. Network administrators can use this feature to troubleshoot any network related issues in the virtual
infrastructure and monitor virtual_machine-to-virtual_machine traffic that is flowing on the same ESXi host. Network administrators use network analyzer tool, which
captures traffic, along with the port mirror feature to perform monitoring and troubleshooting activities. In the physical network, depending on where the analyzer or
debug tool is placed in the network, network administrators choose different port mirroring options. The following are some of the standard port mirroring options
available on physical switches,

A vSphere Standard Switch has been configured for IP-based load balancing using two uplinks.
A new uplink is added to the vSwitch.
What is the status of the uplink by default?
A.
B.
C.
D.

The uplink is placed in standby mode until it is added to the active NIC team.
The uplink is marked as active but does not participate in the active NIC team until assigned to a port group.
The uplink is marked as active, but cannot be used by the active NIC team until it is added to the existing 802.3ad group on the physical switch.
The uplink is marked as unused until it is added to the active NIC team.

Correct Answer: C
Section: (none)
Explanation
Explanation/Reference:
Section: (none)
Explanation
Explanation/Reference:
When you add an uplink to a standard switch, it is marked as Active by default, unless you click the "Move Down" button to assign it as a standby or unused
adapter.
Route Based on IP Hash
Route based on IP Hash load balancing requires that the physical switch ports be combined into an EtherChannel (sometimes called an aggregation
bond, port-channel, or 802.3ad group). This ensures that the same hashing algorithm is used for traffic returning in the opposite direction.

The virtual switch selects uplinks for virtual machines based on the source and destination IP address of each packet.
To calculate an uplink for a virtual machine, the virtual switch takes the last octet of both source and destination IP addresses in the packet, puts them through a
XOR operation, and then runs the result through another calculation based on the number of uplinks in the NIC team.
The result is a number between 0 and the number of uplinks in the team minus one. For example if a NIC team has four uplinks, the result is a number between 0
and 3 as each number is associated with a NIC in the team.
For non-IP packets, the virtual switch takes two 32-bit binary values from the frame or packet from where the IP address would be located.
Any virtual machine can use any uplink in the NIC team depending on the source and destination IP address.
In this way, each virtual machine can use the bandwidth of any uplink in the team. If a virtual machine runs in an environment with a large number of independent
virtual machines, the IP hash algorithm can provide an even spread of the traffic between the NICs in the team.
When a virtual machine communicates with multiple destination IP addresses, the virtual switch can generate a different hash for each destination IP.
In this way, packets can use different uplinks on the virtual switch that results in higher potential throughput.
However, if your environment has a small number of IP addresses, the virtual switch might consistently pass the traffic through one uplink in the team.
For example, if you have a database server that is accessed by one application server, the virtual switch always calculates the same uplink, because only one
source destination pair exists.

Which three storage options can be used? (Choose three.)
A.
B.
C.
D.
E.

Two RDMs on a FCP array
One NFS mount on the ESXi host and one RDMs on an iSCSI array
One CIFS share and one FCP RDM
Two NFS mounts on the ESXi host

Correct Answer: BCD

Section: (none)
Explanation
Explanation/Reference:
Section: (none)
Explanation
Explanation/Reference:
Deduplication stores can be stored in all HCL supported storage and CIFS based network shares, and they are compatible with storage that is capable of
deduplication. While any supported format may be used, virtual disks (VMDKs) or RDMs are recommended for deduplication stores because they provide the most
well-understood and consistent performance. CIFS shares are also supported, but the performance of such shares varies across providers, and as such, is not an
ideal solution.
Furthermore, in many cases, virtual disks and RDMs perform better than network-based deduplication stores. Deduplication stores can be stored in
RDM with either virtual or physical compatibility.
