When to claim:
Please note; untracked items posted on account, including Royal Mail Signed for, are not eligible for compensation (unless posted using VAT exempt 1st and 2nd Class on
account).
We will only handle claims where the item was posted with and delivered by Royal Mail and cannot accept a claim for loss unless 10 working days or more have passed since the item
was due to be delivered (5 days for Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed and 7 days for RM Tracked 24 48).
Loss and damage claims must be submitted within 80 days of the date of posting.
Fee refunds for failure to obtain proof of delivery on Royal Mail Signed for and Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed must be made within 3 months of posting.
Fee refunds for late delivery of Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed items must be claimed within 14 days of posting.
Required Information
To enable us to process your claim you must provide us with whatever reasonable information we request, which shall include but is not limited to, the following information and
evidence, without this we will not be able to process your claim and may return it to you:
Name and full address of the sender and intended recipient
Postage paid and Royal Mail product used
Where and when the item was posted
Item reference number (tracked services only)
Full and exact description of the contents
Proof of posting - e.g. Despatch Book/Royal Mail Manifest or Certificate of Posting.
Proof of the items value (loss and damage claims only). This should be the actual cost of the item to you ie what it cost you to acquire, purchase or manufacture the item excluding any
profit, and consequential costs
For damage claims, the item(s) and original packaging where safe to do so. Photographic evidence may be accepted if items are unsafe or too large to send, but please dont dispose
of the original packaging and damaged item as we may need to inspect them.

Royal Mail reserves the right to inspect the packaging and item and /or to request additional documentation or information as part of our investigation to validate the claim, which may
include but is not limited to Royal Mail contacting the sender or recipient of the item.
Please complete all sections of the form in full as your claim may be delayed or refused if not all the required information is provided. Each line on the CLAIM DETAILS tab of the claim
form refers to one item sent. Once we have received your claim we will deal with it as quickly as possible, however it may take up to 30 days to investigate and fully respond, so please
allow us this time before contacting us again.
You must notify Royal Mail immediately if any missing items are subsequently traced and refund Royal Mail Group Ltd any monies paid in compensation for these items.
The information you give on this form must, to the best of your knowledge, be true and correct as a false claim for compensation could result in criminal prosecution.
