Assessment Tasks

Part One: Theory assessment - Small group submissions

Due date: 1wk post unit end
Using the information you have learnt through the units key concepts, connect these theories to answer the key question. Why and how

Your task is to, in self-created groups, produce a resource of information that covers the four key questions asked during this unit. These
resources should be creative and informative and use experiences, key theoretical knowledge and your own inquiry research gained
throughout the unit when answering. The responses to each question should be detailed and provide accurate information, thus enabling
the wider community to use them as a reference tool when assessing their own personal approach to fitness.

Part Two: Practical assessment - Individual work submissions

Due date: 5wks post unit end
Over the course of this unit you have been asked to be reflective on the types of physical activity you participate in and consider what
fitness means to you. You have had to consider what aspects of fitness relate best to you and what methods of training are the most
valuable. Now is your opportunity to put what you have learnt into practice.
Using the information you have learnt your task is to design your own personal fitness program that you will carry out over four weeks.
This program will be targeted to improving one particular aspect of your own fitness. You will be required to set out specific goals for the
program, identify what types of training will be used and why, complete both a pre-program test and post-program test and write up
comparisons of results and to write a reflection on whether the training was successful.
A successful completion of this assessment task will include the following areas being addressed in detail:

Training Goals
o Include in your training plan a description of your training goals following the SMART principle
o You should outline specific goals that relate to the area of fitness you want to improve
o A good number of goals to outline would be three

o Your description should be detailed and include references to the specific training goals, muscles being used, methods of
training, frequency and intensities
Inclusion of 4 week training programs
o Provide an overview of each weeks training sessions and a breakdown of each session into detail about specific exercises
completed

o Your program should show logical progression of exercises, weights and intensities
Pre/Post Program Fitness test comparison
o Include results from your pre program fitness tests and post program fitness tests displayed in a manner that can be easily
read and comparisons shown
o Included a detailed explanation of the results drawing on comparisons from the pre and post tests
Personal Reflection
o Include a personal reflection of your experience completing your training program
o Include specific details about whether you met your training goals, the results from your tests and any other observations or
