Rationale
 The Regional Advisory Board is established to provide
advice to the Regional Coordinator of the ICP Asia Pacific
 Includes representatives of national (ultimate micro data
custodians) and regional stakeholders (client)
 Not an executive body
 Not involved in the day-to-day management of the ICP

Specific Role of the RAB

 Set regional goals, objectives and priorities Review and


approve work programs
 Provide mechanism for keeping all parties involved and
informed
 Review progress reports
 Advice on the sustainability of the program
 Assist in shaping the vision of ICP for future direction

RAB Composition
 A Chairperson is elected to moderate RAB Meetings and
facilitate technical discussions as needed. (Tenure: One Year
– as agreed during the 1st RAB Mtg (20 May 2010)
 Rationale for RAB Composition
 Institutional Members – Represents ICP Stakeholders
 NIA Members – Invited on the basis of size of economy;
sub-regional representation; and commitment to
participate in meetings and technical discussions that may
be called upon during the course of the 2011 ICP
implementation

Other Matters
• On conduct of meetings
– Explore Video conferencing
– Conduct on-line/e-mail technical discussions
– RAB to confirm availability on suggested dates
• On the number of countries participating in the
region
– ADB can only have 23 countries
– WB clarified that pacific countries may not necessarily
be coordinated by ADB (just like Georgia who is being
corrdinated directly by the GO)
