NOTES ON THE COURSE

You are preparing to become a professional engineer; your work in this course
should reflect that fact. Assignments should be completed on time. Your work
should be well organized, complete with your name, stapled in order, and neat.
Assignments are due at the time listed on the assignment sheet, considered late and
worth 50% credit for 24 hours, and worth zero credit after 24 hours past the time
listed due on the assignment sheet. Work turned in without a name will be given an
automatic 10% reduction in grade.
Written communications, including memos and email, are vital to the success of an
engineer. When evaluating anything youve written, I will note and consider
grammar, i.e., misspelled words, run-on sentences, poor punctuation, etc.
I communicate outside of class primarily via e-mail. Please check your e-mail
frequently for updates on course information. Also, please try to communicate to me,
such as request for missed material, by e-mail. I will use your @wru.edu.vn email
account as your official account.
You are expected to attend class and arrive on time. If you have a conflict, please
inform me prior to class by e-mail -- I will attempt to make arrangements for you to
get notes for the information you missed. I will only consider and determine if your
absence is excused with prior notification. Excused absences that coincide with
homework submittal or an exam/in-class exercise will be considered on an individual
basis.
I am also expected to attend class. However, there will be times that the schedule
may change on a very short notice. It is vital that you check your e-mail frequently for
updates of the course schedule Ill let you know of changes immediately after I
know.
The University of Arkansas Catalog of Studies outlines the general definitions,
policies, and procedures related to the issue of Academic Integrity (also at
http://catalogofstudies.uark.edu/2882.php). Please familiarize yourself with this
material; the guidelines set forth there will be observed in this course.
