OIL & GAS COMPETITION AND EXHIBTION BAKER HUGHES PETROQUIZ COMPETITION GUIDEBOOKOGCE 2015 | Oll & GAS COMPETITION AND EXHIBITION INTRODUCTION With the aim to provide students with additional insight to the oil and gas industry, Oil and Gas Competition and Exhibition (OGCE 2015), cordially announce to you that Baker Hughes PetroQuiz will be awaiting you in this coming November. Acting as a platform of integration for University students all over the world, delegates are able to compete with each other in a fast-paced quiz style competition to show their understanding of the fundamental oil and gas industry. The students will be answering 3 types of question which are (Compulsory, Toss up and Bonus Questions). Toss up and Bonus questions will be read by the moderator while Compulsory questions must be answered hand written by participants. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS . Participants must be a current UNDERGRADUATE student before registration. 2. Participants must form a team of three (3) whereby two (2) are substitutes. . All the team members must be from the same university. . Each delegate is allowed to participate in one team only. . Participants must register online at http://www.ogceutp.org. The registration will be opened officially at 1 May 2015 and will be closed at 23 August 2015. This competition will be using knockout system Ateam consists of 5 members (3 participants and 2 substitutes). No substitution is allowed during the rounds. Substitution is allowed only after each round. Moderator: In charge of reading the questions. Scorekeeper: In charge of keeping score and scores will be displayed atall times. Timekeeper will be in charge of keeping time, Each team will have zero marks to begin with every round (Preliminary, Quarter, Semi Final and Final). Preliminary round is 7 minutes, Quarter and Semi Final are 8 minutes and Final is 10 minutes. 7 minutes for Preliminary Round does not include the 3 minutes Compulsory Questions. Before the quiz starts, participants are given 5 written compulsory questions. Plain paper, pens and a calculator will be provided by the organizer. Marks for the compulsory questions will be added to the team score before the quiz starts. Once the toss up questions is read, the participants can buzz in using the buzzer anytime while the questions are being read. The moderator will stop reading after initial buzz in. The participants will have 8 seconds to buzz in after the questions are read. If there is no buzz in after 8 seconds, proceed to the next question. After buzz in, the participant will have 5 seconds to start answering. If the first team gets the wrong answer or fails to answer, the other team will have the opportunity to answer. If correct answer is given for the toss up question, a bonus question will be asked. Participants will have 15 seconds to finish providing all answers. Failure to answer bonus question will not give the opportunity to the other team to answer. No photos or recordings allowed during the competition Any participants of the team can answer after buzz in. If both teams’ result are the same, each session will continue with additional question until one team wins. The registration deadline Baker Hughes PetroQuiz in OGCE 2015 is on 23 August 2015. If correct, awarded a bonus question. . If incorrect answer, deduction of 10 points and a chance will be given to other team. If the other team gets the correct answer, they will be awarded 10 points, if wrong answer, deduction of 10 points. 4. Can be passed. N= cad Bonus Questions (20 points) . As long as toss up questions are correctly answered, a bonus question will be given. 2. There are several answers to this question. 3. May include diagrams (shown on screen) and calculations (calculator, paper and pens will be provided). Compulsory Questions (10 marks each) . Both teams will be given 5 written questions to be answered before the quiz starts. . Both teams will be answering the questions on the stage. .
