The focus is for them to survive the
disaster as a family whilst watching
out for each other.

of real events and revolve around an
important figure in politics that is
either in danger or has a very
important moment occurring in their
career that the film centres around.
7) Mystery films will incorporate
many features of the crime genre
and tend to focus around finding out
what has happened to a person,
object or group of people. They
search for the meaning of many
unanswered questions and theories
that they will eventually find the
answers to.
8) Techno films use terminology and
themes that most people may not
understand at first. These films rely
on complex CGI and cybernetic
theories to advance the plot and
keep the viewer immersed in the
story.
9) The medical genre revolves
around a scientist who creates a
serum that has the potential to save
humanity or destroy it and the
protagonist must either save the
world or destroy the serum.
10) Comedy thrillers manage to
stick to the conventions of a thriller
whilst making the audience laugh.

11) Sci-fi thrillers use futuristic


technology and objects/places that
the audience has never heard of
before. Space battles and laser
fights may occur on a regular basis.
12) Action thrillers focus purely on
the fight scenes. In these movies
the story may not be its strongest
component but it makes up for it in
the shootouts, fist fights and car
chases.
13) Crime Thrillers are like mystery
thrillers, they both have the same
story archetype except a crime
thriller brings the police into the
equation who must find a murderous
psychopath etc.
14) Supernatural thrillers incorporate
the features of a horror film but tones
down the scare factor and exchanges
it for a more psychological and
spooky appeal .
15) Romantic thrillers are usually
action thrillers but have a love story
between the protagonist and a side
character.
16) Psychological thrillers are
basically horror movies but focus
much more on the psychological
scares than jumpscares. Tricking you
into thinking things are going to
happen and then catching the
audience off guard when they least
expect it.

thriller genre incorporates the
features of a conventional horror
movie. The point of this is to provide
the action of a thriller whilst also
making the audience scared and
have something to fear.
2) Espionage sub-genre uses the
features of a spy film and would
have people dressed in suits,
undercover missions and have a
goal to seek out a villain who
threatens the world.
3) Typically set during the mid1900s, Gangster films are known for
having men in gangs like the mafia
go around and kill members of a rival
gang and get into mass shootouts
with the police. A story is present but
may not be the main focus.

4) Home invasion films revolve
around a family, a group of friends or
a single character trying to escape
from someone who has invaded the
place they feel the safest. The goal of
the invader is usually to kill the
occupants and build up tension.
