EE faculty members normally provide opportunities for

undergraduate to engage in research work at their
laboratories.
These opportunities not only enhance your
undergraduate learning experience but:
(1)

you could use this work up to 6 hours of ELEG

technical electives,
electives and

(2)

Many cases you are are paid for conducting

research!

Whats in your cell phone?

Dr. Len

Engineering
ELEG 3913

There may be only 10 15 integrated circuits on both sides of a cell

phone printed circuit board, but several hundred passive components
(resistors and capacitors) highlighted in yellow.
Research work at UA is finding manufacturing processes to build these
passive components on a layer .002 thick within the circuit board,
freeing up space on the front and back of the board for more ICs and
additional functions.
