Physiotherapy is a varied and interesting profession. You will work with your hands, your mind and
your heart. You will meet many patients with a variety of health problems all needing
their own type of therapy. Physiotherapy and Physiotherapy Education in the Netherlands
are well known all over the world. So is the Saxion Physiotherapy bachelor study at the
Saxion School of Health.

Course and curriculum

Our physiotherapy bachelor study is accessible to

foreign students from any country. The programme,
fully taught in English, has a duration of 4 years.
Graduates obtain the Dutch diploma and are
presented with a Bachelor of Science in physiotherapy.
The Dutch diploma is recognized in all countries in
the world.
After graduation the physiotherapist can work in
several settings such as rehabilitation centres,
nursing homes, private practices, hospitals and
work related health care institutes.

general

The objectives of the study are to gain the knowledge

and skills of physiotherapy, and to reach a certain level
of personal development. The course contains a mix of
theory and practical education. You will learn the basics
of the functioning of the human body, disorders caused
by psychological or work related problems which influence the daily activities of the patient and practical
skills in order to treat the patient.
In order to develop your professional competences,
the curriculum focuses on different roles of the physiotherapist:
1. Physiotherapist Providing care with regard to
health and movement to clients in a methodical way.
2. Health Advocate Analysing and stimulating health
and healthy behaviour clients.
3. Communicator Exchanging verbal and non-verbal
information with clients, (informal) care providers
and other parties involved.
4. Cooperator Carrying out activities with a focus on
achieving common results, together with clients,
professionals and other parties involved.

It is very interesting to learn how our body works and the complex systems behind it.
I enjoy making connections between theory, practical education and the ability to
improve the quality of a persons life.

I started my physiotherapy study at Saxion because I saw it as a great opportunity to experience a

couple of years of living and studying abroad. Besides this, Holland is considered to have a very high
level in educating physiotherapists and offers lots of possibilities to continue your education with a
Master or PhD degree.
I am in my third year and the physiotherapy study at Saxion meets my expectations. I like the balance
between a practical work situation amongst other people and the theory, in combination with affiliation periods where you bring your knowledge into practice. I appreciate the physiotherapy study
mainly because of the human and useful aspects of the profession. We can really make a change in
peoples life.
The life and living in Holland and especially Enschede is very nice. Enschede is a great town, which
offers a full package of facilities for students. From grocery stores and a good shopping area, to
nice cafes and bars. The weather is sometimes a bit rainy and windy, but the springtime is nice and
definitely worth it.
If you have any doubt about studying abroad, dont be afraid!
Studying in Holland and in Enschede is worth it.
