STUDY COMPONENT
SUBJECT OBJECTIVES
On successful completion of this subject, the learner will be able to:
Do a method study, using the correct techniques to effect and make improvements in productivity.
Do a time study to determine the standard time for a job.
To be able to convince management on implementing the new techniques.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Primary learning objective:
Bring students to a basic level of knowledge so that industrial engineering issues, tools and theories can be
understood and confidently applied where required.
Assist students with their development as applied scientists.
Prepare students with the various complex issues, which they will have to deal with as future engineers, and
managers.
Provide a sound basis for further studies in engineering work-study.

CRITICAL CROSS-FIELD OUTCOMES (CCFO s)

This qualification is designed, presented and assessed so that the following skills of the research student are promoted and developed:
1.

Identifying and solving problems in which responses display that responsible decisions using critical and creative thinking have been made.

2.

Working effectively with others as a member of a team, group, organisation, community.

3.

Organising and managing oneself and ones activities responsibly and effectively.

4.

Collecting, analysing, organising and critically evaluating information.

5.

Communicating effectively using visual, mathematical and/or language skills in the modes of oral and/or written persuasion.

6.

Using science and technology effectively and critically, showing responsibility towards the environment and health of others.

7.

Demonstrating an understanding of the world as a set of related systems by recognising that problem-solving contexts do not exist in isolation.

8.

Contributing to the full personal development of each learner and the social and economic development of the society at large, by making it the
underlying intention of any programme of learning to make an individual aware of the importance of:
a) reflecting on and exploring a variety of strategies to learn more effectively;
b) participating as responsible citizens in the life of local, national and global communities;
c) being culturally and aesthetically sensitive across a range of social contexts;
d) exploring education and career opportunities; and
e) developing entrepreneurial opportunities
