INTRODUCTION

Minister of Fishery targeting Indonesia as the largest producer of seaweed in the world with an
average growth of seaweed production reached 16.74 in 2019. Takalar as one of the seaweed
production in the province of South Sulawesi with production in 2015 as many as 959 890 tones.
But the increase of seaweed production in Takalar regency has not been accompanied by an
increase in quality of the crop, both in techniques of cultivation, post-harvest handling and in
terms of processing. This is due non-optimal human resources capability to improve the business
development strategies of seaweed, so it is important to do the research to formulate
management strategies of seaweed in Takalar.
AIM
The purpose of this study was to determine the development strategy of seaweed E Cottonii in
Takalar
ADVANTAGES
The final results are expected in optimal collaboration across sectors so that it can be used as a
reference in the management of seaweed production from upstream to downstream to get
maximum results in line with government targets to increase the independence and prosperity of
society in particular, and increasing state revenues in general.
METHODOLOGY
- The study was conducted from April to July 2016, in the village of Aeng Batu-Batu, District of
North Galesong, Takalar regency.
- Data collection was by using primary data and secondary data ..
- Data collection techniques through observation, interviews with filling the questionnaire and
conduct FGD techniques.
- Data were analyzed using SWOT analysis.
RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
Strategy S> <O

- Optimizing the entire sea area suitable for the cultivation of seaweed
- To increase seaweed production, through post-harvest processing, thereby increasing the valueadded products through product diversification.
- Improving the quality of farmed so that it can increase the price of seaweed at the farm level.

- Enhance cooperation with universities and other research institutions to cope with ice-ice
disease and cultivation techniques are well adapted to the dry season and the rainy season.
- Increase cooperation with governments both provincial and local governments to undertake a
pilot nursery

- The government should conduct a pilot nursery
- Improve training for seaweed farmers, so they has the ability and technique of cultivating the
good in the dry season and the rainy season as well as the techniques of handling ice-ice disease.
- Conduct training of post-harvest processing
- Strengthening of venture capital to seaweed farmers to form cooperatives
- Increased cooperation with government and private credit institutions coupled with an increase
in ethics customers who pay on time.

- Increasing support from all seaweed stakheholders in Takalar in particular and the province of
South Sulawesi in general
- Raising awareness and insight to seaweed farmers to be proactive in the development of
seaweed business as a professional.
CONCLUSION

1. SO suggested strategy is Optimizing whole sea area in Takalar which suitable for seaweed
farming, upgrading quality seaweed production, through post-harvest processing so as it can
increase the value-added products through product diversification.
2. ST suggested strategy is to increase cooperation with universities, other research institutions
and the government to overcome the ice-ice disease and cultivation techniques are well adapted
to the dry season and the rainy season.
3. WO suggested strategy is that the government should conduct a pilot nurseries, training and
extension to farmers seaweed, as well as the strengthening of venture capital.
4. WT suggested strategy is to increase the support of all seaweed stakheholders in Takalar in
particular and the province of South Sulawesi in general, and to raise awareness and insight to
seaweed farmers to be more proactive in the development of the seaweed business as a
professional.
