This document provides instructions for making a beginner flamenco scarf using Palmyra yarn. The scarf is approximately 200cm long and is knit using 6mm needles. To knit with the yarn, the open edge is used where the eyelets are located rather than pulling from the center. The scarf is knit in garter stitch by knitting into the eyelets along the open edge until the scarf reaches 200cm or until 100cm of yarn remains. It is then bound off and finished by weaving in the ends.

MEASUREMENTS Length (approx) 200 cms/79 ins CRAFTWORKS YARN PALMYRA 1 x 100g ball Needles A pair 6.00mm (US 10), (UK 4) Knitting Needles. Note - Correct tension/gauge is not essential for this Scarf. MATERIALS A Yarn Needle. ABBREVIATIONS St/s - stitch/es, K - Knit, RS - right side, WS - wrong side, garter st - every row knit, beg - begin/ning. IMPORTANT TIPS We recommend that you do not pull the yarn from the cente of the ball - unwind it from the outside and it will be easier to work with. To join this yarn, just overlap the two yarns by about 10 cms/4 ins and knit them both for 2 to 3 stitches. Casting On - Unfold the tape and find the open edge of the yarn (not the pom pon/selvedge edge). You will see large eyelets in the tape. You will be using the eyelets along the open edge to knit into and as your knitting yarn. See the diagram showing correct eyelets to knit into. To cast on, you simply insert the needle into an eyelet approx 3 cms/1 in from the end of your yarn to create the first stitch.
To create the next stitch, insert the needle
front to back into the next eyelet along the edge of the tape, skipping the half eyelet in between. Repeat this process to cast on each stitch. Knitting - Insert your right needle into the stitch as if to knit. Unfold the tape and find the open edge. Use the next eyelet along the open edge as your knitting yarn and complete your stitch. Casting/Binding Off - Knit 2 stitches in the above manner. Lift the first stitch over the second and off the needle. Work in this way across the stitches until one stitch remains. Using a yarn needle thread part of the tape through the last stitch and tighten to cast/bind off. CREATE Scarf Using 6.00mm (US 10), (UK 4) Needles, cast on 6 sts. Knit in garter st, knitting into the eyelets on the open edge of the yarn until work measures approx 200 cms/79 ins or until 100 cms/39 ins of yarn remains. Cast/bind off. FINISHING DO NOT PRESS. Using yarn needle, darn in ends.
