External Connection Manager
The Lyric External Connection Manager contains user defined external connections allowing remote
control of external devices. Devices like routers, Channel Box, Power Clips, switchers, or any network or
serial connected device can be triggered from a keyframe on Lyrics timeline.

Automation Interface
Lyrics Automation component gives Lyric unlimited serial and network Intelligent Interface
connections, allowing multiple clients to make connections to Lyric at a time. The component has a built
in Rules Engine as well as support for Playlist PRO, Desktop-Multi-View, PBus and VDCP. The rules
engine provides an end user with greater control over how an automation system communicates with
Lyric, allowing a wide range of customization for both well-defined and documented commands as well
as any custom commands that might be required.

Pre-Process Data Using Script

Pre-Processing Data using a VBScript allows scripts to evaluate and modify the data before it is passed
to the Lyric Objects property. This allows users to define a VBScript file to execute that can modify the
data before it is displayed.

Parameters in Query Strings

Parameters in Query strings allow queries in the Advanced Data Object to be dynamic. Changing the
parameter value changes the query which in return changes the data set returned to the Advanced Data
object.
Parts of the query string can contain the parameter or the entire query string itself can be stored as a
parameter.
Having parameters in query strings makes the data set bound to the Advanced Data dynamic at run
time.
Parameters themselves can be changed by a macro, LEIF or through the Intelligent Interface.

Cell Data Linking in the Advanced Data Object

In Lyric 8.8, users can link one data cell of a set to a node, similar to DB linking.

Parameter Callbacks
Parameters are always live so any changes made to a parameter will immediately be reflected on air,
with no update or refresh commands required.

New Masking UI and Stencil Masking Functionality

Masking has been unified under a single, clear, easy to use user interface. Stencil masking can also now
be applied to groups.

Advanced Data Object Empty Field Behavior

For Lyric 8.8, if a field in the Data Object that is navigated to and updated on air is empty, the text will
also be cleared on the output to ensure that all data is uniform between source and broadcast.

Changes to Existing Features in 8.8

Data Linking Keyframes
Keyframe attributes are now available to be updated directly in Template Update and the Data Object,
minimizing the number of macros required to link data or values directly to keyframes in the scene.

Touch Screen Gestures

Gestures are now supported for Windows 7 compliant touch screen devices, allowing users to control
animations based on direction of touch motion.

Auto Follow First Frame Only

New options to allow for more flexibility and control over the animation of elements set to use
autofollow.

JSON in the Advanced Data Object

JSON is now a supported data source for the Advanced Data Object.

XML Data Messages

Lyric XML Data Messages is very simple XML schema of a Lyric data message. This allows third party
developers to create Lyric data messages programmatically without the need of having a Lyric device
and without the need of using the Intelligent Interface. Lyric can read/write XML data messages.

Disable/Enable All Scene Cameras

Users will find new options in the edit menu that will enable or disable all scene cameras for 2d text
objects in the scene, ensuring that there will never be a time when

LEIF for mFX Video Capture

LEIF is now available to control the Video Capture capabilities of mFX Mosaic and Mosaic XL platforms.

Manipulator
From the toolbar or CG Preferences in Lyric users can now turn the Manipulator on or off for either for
text objects, other objects, or both.

2D Text Windows Space Modes

Normal and Modified modes have been removed. Rotations and scale for 2d Text Windows will only
show when scene camera is on. When the text window is selected, if it is rotated and the scene camera
is off, the bar at the top will go yellow is the bar has been rotated and the scene camera is off . To
ensure that all modified text windows will display properly, use Edit > Enable All Scene Cameras after
modifying any 2d Text Window contents.

Known Issues in Lyric 8.8

Masking UI - The first time the Masking window is displayed, there might be scrollbar on right side. Can
nudge the window size to redraw and it will look fine.
Surface - Cannot use .gif as 3d object surface texture.
Surface - Plugin (video texturing) is disabled for 3d object primitives. Please use Video Object instead.
nVidia Driver - Should use nVidia 332.21 driver and not the latest.
Intelligent Interface - Q command is currently inoperative.

ABOUT LYRIC SOFTWARE LICENSING

A dongle that has enabled older versions of Lyric on existing ChyronHego systems IS NOT compatible
with Lyric Version 8.8. It must therefore be reprogrammed. Please contact ChyronHego Customer
Service at +1 631 845 2132 if you are upgrading a ChyronHego system that you currently own to
Lyric Version 8. There are also feature enhancements in Lyric 8.8 that will require reprogramming of
the Lyric dongle.
Newly-purchased ChyronHego systems include the Lyric PRO version of the most recent Lyric 8
release, with the purchased options enabled. Hence, no licensing updates are required on a new
system.

Newly purchased Lyric PRO Offline packages include a dongle kit programmed with the appropriate
options.
