MABULAY, JARED M

C-NUR-4

As a youth living in the Philippines who is equally threatened with terrorism,

what is your insight on the role of the youth in mitigating or aggravating the effects
of these threats i.e., unecessary commentaries on social media.
The Talibans ban on the education of women above 8 years old is one of the
most sexist and misogynistic things I have ever heard. I cant even imagine a
country without women in the workforce, much less in school. From what I have
read, the Taliban impose such brutal rules among women. Almost making them
seem like theyre not even human beings. Malala fought this. Malala believed that
she and other women deserved to be educated. Even in a place where the Taliban
rule wherein women being caught in underground schools are executed.
If I were in Malalas shoes I admit I probably wouldnt do the same thing. It
makes me feel distraught since I often take for granted my education which I
receive for free from my parents. There are days when I wish that school would be
suspended or cancelled. But thinking about those times now that Ive learned that
something like this is happening somewhere around the world, where people have
to fight for their education and receive death threats about it, I feel guilty. And
knowing that this someone is in my age group and has won Nobel prize, started a
revolution, changed so many minds. It makes me realize that I can and that is want
to do something as radical as this. I want to help others. Even just by starting small.
NSTP is our stepping stone into helping others. Even though building a house,
teaching children, or planting trees isnt as radical as starting an uprising against a
political group that degrades people of certain sex, race, or beliefs and aims to
control their lives, sucking the freedom and their rights right from the hands of the
people, As I said it is a stepping stone. It is something that would inspire others to
do the same. To help others. To make a change that people will benefit from. And to
make things right.
If I could talk for my fellow youth I believe that we all are concerned about
terrorism. Especially seeing all the comments and reactions to the attacks that are
broadcasted on social media. It strengthens my faith in others. That there are other
people who are concerned. That these people think in a way that what I and most
people think is right. The youth is easily influenced. It is our duty to influence them

correctly before others influence them to do no good. To instill in them what is right
politically and ethically. With good conscience and initiative we can make change.

If you were in her place you probably wouldnt do the same thing
Makes you realize that you want to do something radical in our societyYou feel
ashamed kasi here you are given na sayo yung pag aaral
Samantalang sa ibang countries kailangan pang ipaglaban nila yung right to study
Kasama pa life nila
