HISTORY OF THE PROBLEM

At the age of 13, she rebelled against her mother for having another partner. She
started skipping school, running away from home, using shabu three (3) times a month,
left home for several hours but eventually returned. At the age of 15, she met her
current accomplice, who is a supplier of drugs and provides her whenever she needs it.
He is a 37 years old man.
On March 31, 2016 about 5:00 a.m., a buy-and-bust operation was conducted within
the area of Happy Place Inn located at Brgy. Lacson, Calinan Davao City. The client
and her accomplice was arrested due to alleged violation of R.A. 9165. Recovered
during the operation are rectangular shape sealed transparent plastic sachet containing
white crystalline substance assumed to be a shabu. A urine sample was taken from
the client to determine the presence of THC metabolites and it gave a positive result.

admitted in DCTRCDD (Davao City Treatment and Rehabilitation Center for Drug
Dependents) on April 2, 2016. She was thankful that she was arrested and
transferred because her life changed dramatically to be a better person.

VIII.

CURRENT FUNCTIONING OF THE CLIENT

In my observation, the client enjoyed her stay within the center. She is also an
obedient and shes not afraid to express her feelings. Her dream is for her family to
be united because its been long time since they are together. She also wanted to
continue her studies when she is discharged at the center. She also loved to dance,
in fact, she wanted to be a hip hop dancer in the future.

IX.

ASSESSMENT

This is a case of a 17 years old resident who violated against Section 5, 11 and
12 of R.A. 9165. The reason why the clients behaviour became dysfunctional is
because of deprivation of love and guidance towards her mother. Based on the
clients statement, she is fond of her mother because she is being spoiled by her
when she was a child. The situation changes when their family had a financial crisis
that causes her mother to find a suitable job and finding a partner that can support
the family. The clients mother started to neglect her needs and leave the client in
care of her current boyfriend. She also recalls that she was anxious to her new
environment without her mother.
The theory that may apply in this situation is the Attachment Theory by John
Bowlby. He believed that the root of the development of personality lay in early
childhood development, and that any trauma or failure in this early relationship
would permanently shape the development of the childs personality. In this case, the
absence of her mother at the early stage of her life made her behaviour became
rebellious towards her mother. The premise here is that ineffective or the lack of
attachment in childhood or the excess of it could have been responsible for the
problems in this case study.
X.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the client must continue her intensive rehabilitation in

DCTRCDD (Davao City Treatment and Rehabilitation Center in Drug Dependent). While
the client is staying inside the center, the family must visit her to strengthen their
relationship, especially with her mother and provide her daily needs. If the client was

able to complete her rehabilitation, she will be advised to pursue her studies and
choose her desired course from college.
