Sewing notions
Pattern has a 6mm(1/4 inch) seam allowance included.
To make up:
1. Stitch body pieces, RS together from A to B, leaving opening as shown, then along bottom.. (Grain of fabric
does not matter as long as it isnt on the bias
2. Open the seams at the raw edges. Match one side of the bottom seam with the corresponding side seam B
to C, and A to D. Stitch these openings closed. Clip curves at neck. Turn out.
3. Insert bag of pellets then stuff the rest of the body firmly. Close opening.
For Tilly-Bo:
4. Stitch the pants, RS together, from A to B on both sets. Lay them flat out, and pair them with RS together.
Stitch from C to D on both sides.
5. Open out and stitch around inside legs and crotch. Clip curves and turn out.
6. Turn down at waist about 1cm and gather and stitch to body at waist.
7. Take a bunch of raffia (a group of about 36 strands) roughly 20cm long. Tie tightly twice in the centre, 2cm
apart, then cut through the middle. You now have 2 equal bunches. A little hot glue on the cut edge will help
hold the strands in place.
8. Gather the leg hem 1.5cm from edge. Insert one bunch until the tied band is level with the gathering stitches.
Pull gathering firmly and stitch around and through raffia, to secure.
9. Stitch all around the head. Make a small slit in one piece and turn out. Stuff firmly. Draw facial features with
fine marker or coloured pencil.
10. Glue or stitch to neck, centring the top of neck to centre back head.
11. Fold sleeve in half, RS together and stitch from underarm to hem. Turn out.
12. Fold sleeve with the underarm seam towards you, in the centre of the sleeve. Place a pin exactly halfway
across the sleeve between underarm and hem.

13. Place a very small handful of stuffing inside the top.

14. Run a gathering stitch around the top, and pull gently to gather around stuffing. Secure leaving a small
hole.
Place this hole over the shoulder point on the body, and stitch in place with ladder stitch around about 5mm out
from your gathering stitches.
15. Run a gathering stitch around wrist about 1cm from edge.
16. Take another bunch of raffia as you did for the feet, this time only 16cm long. Tie, cut, glue and stitch in
place in the same manner. Remove pin from sleeve and ease stuffing to fill sleeve..17. Stitch skirt pieces at the side
seams, RS together. Turn out. Pin apron to centre front, even with top edge of
skirt. Run a gathering stitch around skirt, including apron. Place over doll and fasten securely about 1cm above
pants gathering.
18. Take a bunch of raffia, same thickness as before, about 14cm long. Tie firmly in the middle. Ease, press,
cajole the raffia to open up as close to a circle shape as you can. With hot glue gun, glue the centre of the
raffia to centre top of head. Glue around back of head and stick some strands of raffia down. Do the same down
the side of face. Allow the rest of hair to stick up as raffia wishes.
Stitch or glue 2 buttons to bodice.
For Tam:
4. Stitch across top of shirt to neck opening marked on pattern. Stitch under-side from wrist around to waist.
Clip underarm. Turn out. Fold in and finger-press neck seam.
Place onto body.
5. Run a gathering stitch around wrist about 1cm from edge. Insert a small amount of stuffing into sleeve.
6. Make and insert hands as you did for Tilly-Bo.
7. Stitch the pants, RS together, from A to B on both sets. Lay them flat out, and pair them with RS together.
Stitch from C to D on both sides.
8. Open out and stitch around inside legs and crotch. Clip curves and turn out.
9. Place on body, over the shirt and gather around the waist and stitch to body to secure.
10. Make and insert the raffia feet as you did for Tilly-Bo.
11. Make the head as you did for Tilly-Bo.
12. Fold straps in half lengthways. Stitch to front of pants at gather line with a button. Pass strap over shoulder
and stitch to opposite side with another button. Repeat for other strap.
13. Make Tams hair as you did for Tilly-bo, but a little less fly-away.
14. Cut 2 hat pieces from the felt. Cut a circle into one piece, 1.5cm in from edge. Stitch around, 5mm from
edge. Turn out. Glue hat peak anywhere along the cut circle. Glue cap onto head.
15. Glue the miniature tools together, or simply wind some cotton around them to keep them together. Glue to
inside wrist. Fold hand towards body and glue in place at the waist.
Stitch or glue 2 buttons to bodice, and tie scarf around neck.

While it is important to keep to the integrity of a pattern, I want you to have fun with mine, so go ahead and use your
own interpretation of the pattern and make appropriate changes. But please remember, a few changes does not make
the pattern yours, only the finished product, so be kind.
Country blessings,
Stella
