Energietechnik Essen GmbH is a top-ranking company in the field of highly specialised and safety-relevant high-tech products: retaining rings and nitrogen-alloyed
steels. Sophisticated remelting equipment (electroslag and pressurised electroslag
remelting) and our cold expanding press enable us to manufacture these unique
products.

Market
Our products provide safety. Retaining rings are used on the shaft ends of power
generators in order to prevent the copper wiring from being displaced by the centrifugal
forces that occur at high rotational speeds. HNS qualities are used as ball screws
for the adjustment of the pitch elevator in aviation, for example. Other important
areas of application include bearings, medical technology and high-quality machine
construction.

Products from Energietechnik Essen GmbH have to fulfil the highest quality
requirements. This is assured by means of an integrated quality management
system which is implemented meticulously throughout the entire process from
procurement via production to delivery of the finished goods.

Service
Customer service for our products is a top priority for us. It includes all-round
consultancy in matters relating to metallurgy, heat treatment and materials
engineering. A further significant aspect is damage assessment and materials
testing carried out at our own onsite laboratory.

OUR RANGE OF SERVICES

Energietechnik Essen GmbH, a member of the Georgsmarienhtte Group
of Companies, has extensive possibilities and skills based on continuous
research and development work as well as experience dating as far back as
1811. Energietechnik Essen GmbH develops, manufactures and supplies
safety-relevant high-tech products, mainly for the power generation industry.
When the first turbo generators were built at the beginning of the 20th century
our Essen factory supplied the retaining rings. Retaining rings are used on
the shaft ends of power generators in order to prevent the copper wiring from
being displaced by the centrifugal forces that occur at high rotational speeds.
Our companys earliest records of non-magnetic retaining rings originate from
the year 1901.

Our Company
Energietechnik Essen GmbH is a young
company which, however, looks back
over a long tradition. It was founded in
1811 as a part of the Friedrich Krupp AG.
Following various restructuring
measures and a series of ownership
changes, Energietechnik Essen GmbH
was ultimately established in 2003.

With two remelting assemblies, an electroslag remelting unit and a pressurised

electroslag remelting unit, Energietechnik Essen GmbH produces materials for
retaining rings as well as other high nitrogen alloys, non-magnetic austenitic
and ferritic-martensitic special steels in different dimensions for a variety of
applications.
In monitored and controlled processes remelting ingots with weights of 1,000 kg
to 25,000 kg and ingot diameters of 400 mm to 1,000 mm are produced in
these two remelting assemblies.
