Granny vs Weeds Script

SCENE 1
ESTABLISHING SHOT LIVING ROOM
An old fashioned living room, a large sofa and side table
take up the shot. GRANNY enters carrying a tea tray and sits
on the sofa. She stirrs her tea and takes a sip.
FADE OUT
Studio credits appear "Pixie Pixels Presents"
FADE IN
Animation title overlaying scene, granny has her back turned
to the camera, tending to something in her garden.
CUT TO:
HALLWAY
Looking towards the back door, we see GRANNY enter the
house, camera follows her round to the kitchen, continues
panning to the calendar on the wall. Dates are crossed out
up until 2 days before a circled date: "Garden Competition
Judging Day!" is written in the box. Camera continues
panning down the wall, we see a collection of 2nd place
ribbons and certificates from previous garden competitions
displayed along a side table and hung on the wall.
CUT TO:
Granny sitting at the kitchen table, looking lovingly
through the window to a large rose in her garden. Camera
zooms on the rose.
CUT TO:
GARDEN, NIGHT
Rose is in the foreground, kitchen window behind, granny
closing the curtains.
SCENE 2
CALENDAR
Another day has been crossed off the calendar.
CUT TO:
GRANNY out in the garden, watering and tending to the rose.

Shot transitions to a dutch angle, large dark thorny weeds

begin encroaching into shot, towards GRANNY and her beloved
rose.
CUT TO:
Shot focuses on GRANNYs face. Her expression changes to
slight concern, she feels something is not quite right.
CUT TO:
Shot of the garden, the scene has changed dramatically.
Colours are more contrasting, angle is exaggerated.
CUT TO:
Camera focuses on GRANNY, she is shocked, the weeds are
taking over her beautiful garden, ruining her chance in the
garden competition, encroachin on her prized rose.
CUT TO:
Camera focuses on the weeds, slowly spreading and
approaching the house and rose, and granny. The sceve
becomes darker and angles are more exaggerated.
CUT TO:
GRANNY, she rolls her sleeves, determined to take down the
weedy tendrils, nothing will get in her way of finally
winning 1st prize.
CUT TO:
POV of the weeds, looking up at GRANNY standing over them,
secateurs in hand. The battle begins.
CUT TO:
Exaggerated and dutch angles of granny taking on the weeds,
slashing and hacking, shots are rapid and extreme, many just
silhouettes of slashing and weeds falling, colours are
contrasting and extreme. Piles of cut weeds surround her,
shes thrashing and slicing crazily trying to tackle the
masses of thorny tendrils surrounding her, when in her
frenzy she accidentally chops the bloom from her prize rose.
CUT TO:
Close up on GRANNYs face, she gasps in shock, colour drains.
CUT TO:
Slow motion dramatic shot of the rose bloom falling to the

ground.
CUT TO:
Long shot of the garden, GRANNY standing in the middle of
piles of dead weeds, her dark headless rose bush looks
horridly bare. Her garden is a mess. Weather and colours
reflect her hopelessness, it begins to rain.
FADE TO BLACK.
SCENE 3
Calendar shot, it is the day of the garden competition
judging.
CUT TO:
KITCHEN
Granny sits alone at her able, we hear rain outside, the
curtains are closed, the room dark and dreary. She sighs and
slowly stirrs her tea.
She jerks up at a knock/ring at the door. The judges have
arrived. Camera follows granny move through the house
towards the gront door. There are dark tendrils running
along the hall, GRANNY does not seem to notice. GRANNY
openes the front, the rain is just stopping, outside it
bright and in stark contrast to her dark house. She ushers
in the judges and walks with them along the hall to the back
door. The judges look around, perplexed at the plants
running through her house.
CUT TO:
Camera shot behind GRANNY as she opens the back door, bright
light streams in.
CUT TO:
Close up of GRANNYs face, she gasps in surprise.
CUT TO:
Panning shot of GRANNYs garden, the "weeds" have spread and
bloomed over night and her garden is filled with beautiful
large purple flowers and trailing vines.
CUT TO:
Shot of the shocked faces of GRANNY and the JUDGES. We see
behind them the house and hall is filled with beautiful
bloomed vines also.

SCENE 4
Camera follows GRANNY as she carries her tea tray out the
kitchen and through the flowery hall towards the living
room. Camera focuses on the large 1t prize trophy proudly
displayed on her side table.
CUT TO:
GRANNY sitting on her sofa, surrounded by blooms, sipping
her tea. Camera zooms out and pans to show the hall, the
back door is open and a breeze rustles the hallway blooms,
we hear the happy laughter of the "weeds" echoing through
the hall as GRANNY smiles and sips her tea.
END.
