drawbackofthemodularapproach.Eachmajortopicistaughtasanintegratedflowoflearningthatprovidesstudentswithaframeworkintowhichtheycanplacenew
conceptsortechniques.Thegoalistoensureasmooth,well-organisedaccumulationofknowledgeaseachmoduleproceeds.
TheMechanicalPowermoduleprovidesagoodexampleofthisapproach.StartingfromconceptsestablishedatAlevel,lecturesareusedtopresentthefundamental
lawsgoverningtheflowoffluidsandenergy.Theseareillustratedbyengineeringapplicationsthatoftenlink-upwithlaboratoryexperiments.Forexample,intheearly
weeksofstudy,studentsacquirethetheoreticaltoolstomakeafirst,roughestimateofengineperformance.Theygoontotestrealenginesinthelaboratory,sothat
