Course Objective
optical communication

: N.Durga Indira
: N.Durga Indira, C.Sreevardhan
: This course introduces the basic concepts required to understand
systems and networks

Course Rationale
: Transmission of information over a wired communication channel
suffers from attenuation,
inadequacy of bandwidth for high data speeds
etc., these problems were successfully routed
out by the introduction of
optical fiber as transmission media.
This course covers the basics of optical fiber communication link, propagation
losses, various
sources and detectors, data transmission schemes etc.
It is also emphasizes advancement in
data transmission capability of
point communication systems.
