Thank you for pre-ordering The Recovering Spender Book! Here is your printable packet thats full of
useful resources and tools to help you organize your finances, track your last few months spending,
think about your financial future, and more. In my book, The Recovering Spender, I talk about a few
things that I did to get myself financially organized. So, to help you out, I made these printables to help
you get started on your journey as you read through the book.

Review
Spend some time and really think about WHY you decided to change your financial situation. Fill in
the blank with the main driving force behind why you desire to change your financial future.
This is a place for you to dream about the things youd like to do, achieve, or own before you kick
the bucket. I recommend you and your significant other filling one of these out separately and then
review each others dreams. This can help you see some variance and similarities in the way you and
your spouse view money. - Talk constructively about your spouses answers. Are your spending habits
today going to make it possible for you to achieve your dreams down the road?
Write down each one of your debts on this page to get a picture of where you are so you can start
digging yourself out of debt.
It can be helpful to see how much we are spending on things we need to survive (shelter, groceries,
etc) versus things we want (cable, restaurants, smartphones, etc.). Use this list to see how much
you are spending on essential needs and non-essential wants. This can help you know where to cut
spending if you need to.
This is an organized, designated, and reserved space where all of the money flows into and out of your
home. This is a list with some ideas of things you might want in your money flow center. Repurpose
old things in your home, or check a thrift store before you look to buy some of these things new.
Here is a list of commonly budgeted and spending categories you can use when making your own
budget.
Before you start (or restart) budgeting. Look at your bank and credit card statements for the past
few months. For each month, fill out a spending review page so you can start to see where you are
spending-heavy, and also to get an idea for how much you are spending in different areas.
Preliminary
Budget
After you completed your spending review, use these pages to calculate your 3-month average
spending in each category. This will give you a fairly accurate picture for how much to actually budget
your first few months.
Bill
Priorities
It is important to prioritize your bills so if money runs tight, you know what bills should be paid
first and what ones to wait on. Use the sample page as a guide. In the Income Remaining column,
subtract that expense from your monthly income total. Then, subtract the next expense amount from
your new remaining total. Keep subtracting down the list and see how far you can get.
Personal
Loans
When you borrow something and dont give it back, it shows a lack of respect for others money. If you
are in debt, you have a lack of respect for your own money as well. If you have a spending problem,
stop borrowing things for the time being, and begin to think of what youve borrowed from others
as debt as well. Write down everyone you can think of that you should repay or return something to.
Come up with a plan to pay these people back the same you would with your credit cards.
