as if that was more important than the rest. The article focused on employees of age, but
also focused on the actions of the ages less than 40, that led up to passing the law. It
focused on the previous actions, and what is hoped to keep from continuing in the future.
This source is reliable because it gives facts, rather than stating, "I believe..." or " I
think..." sentences. The article also gave links leading to resources to prove that the
writing that was written, was true.
Finn, Lisa. " Female Discrimination In The Workplace." StudioD. 2016.
23 September 2016.
The main purpose of this article is to inform the public about the different types of ways
that females are or aren't capable of getting hired for the same position in the same work
force. Many jobs would rather hire an attractive woman than a less attractive woman that
are both capable of doing the exact work. In some cases, they will not hire an attractive
woman because some believe that they are more prone to receiving sexual harassment. If
a woman does not look psychically capable, it is less likely for them to get hired or even
receive a promotion. When it comes to wages, men can get paid higher for doing the
same job.
The article could be referred to as biased because of the fact that it only focused on
women, however, many believe that woman are more likely to get discriminated for the
way they are dressed, or the way they act, or even how strong they look. This source is
reliable because it gave facts and not opinions. It allowed knowing both sides of a story.
How one can get hired and how one cannot. It influenced much more than what I already

knew because I knew that men could get paid higher, but I did not know that there was a
possibility that women would not get hired for psychical appearance. This article focused
discrimination towards women.
Ehrenreich, Barbara. " Nickel And Dimed. " Henry Holt And Company. 1 January 2001.
25 September 2016.
In the book, Nickel And Dimed, discrimination played a role in the story. Since she
traveled to different places to understand the concept of being able to live in poverty in a
minimum wage job would be possible, she had also experienced many discrimination
situations. Enrenreich felt as if her gender had taken a big part in discrimination at the
work force. It was believed by her, that the verbal insults were more toward women, than
men at same job. One of her bosses also made it clear that there was not going to be a
raise for women that would want to work more hours, because he wanted to make sure
that he provided them with "mother hours" at home. Although, that does not seem like
much discrimination, it is. It is not allowing one to do more work or being capable of
doing something, because of a restriction towards gender, age, race, or religion.
This story could be more towards the side of biased because it focused on just her
experiences as being discriminated as a women, but the book also based along that idea.
It was in between the middle of biased and unbiased. The source is not as reliable because
she was the one experiencing it, and even though all of that might be true, there could
have been a large part that actually happened in the situation that was not included

in the story. Also, most of the things that were said, were opinions. It goes both ways,
because she was discriminated by the place she was hired at.
