The Gift of Faith

October 23-October 29

Father God,
Thank you for loving me and taking care of me. Bless my church, Pastor Ron and
his family. Bless my teachers for teaching me Your Word. I believe your love is
flowing through me to other people. Help me to obey my parents so things will go
well with me and I will live a long life on the earth. I will tell how great You are and
how much I love You. I thank You that by Jesus stripes I am healed in my body and
my soul.
In Jesus name, Amen

I will trust God in times of danger.

I Corinthians 12:9
I am empowered to work miracles by the power of the Holy Spirit.
John 14:12
I lay hands on the sick and use my faith to believe and pray for
healing for those oppressed of the devil.
Acts 10:38

The Holy Spirit empowers us with special faith to trust Him to keep us
in times of danger.

I Corinthians 12:9, To another faith by the same Spirit.

The Holy Spirit gives some believers who are in desperate situations a
special faith that produces miracle working power. When this happens
it is called the Gift of Faith at work in the believer. The Gift of Faith
is not the same as the faith that comes from hearing, or the faith that
brings a person to believe in Jesus. The Gift of Faith goes into action in
a person when they are in very dangerous situations that could make
the difference between life and death. It gives a person courage to trust
God for protection.
The Gift of Faith is also different than the Working of Miracles. The
best example of this difference is seen in the stories of Samson killing a
lion (Working of Miracles) and Daniel being kept safe in a pit full of lions
(Gift of Faith). God used Samson to work a miracle by using his bare
hands to kill the lion. But when Daniel was thrown into the pit of lions,
he didnt work a miracle. He did receive a miracle though. God sent
angels to shut the mouths of the lions so they couldnt eat Daniel.
Being thrown into a pile of hungry lions is not an ordinary, everyday
test of faith like we face when we are tempted to do something that we
know is wrong; like disobeying our parents, saying bad words, or
watching a tv show where people are doing bad things. In the everyday
temptations we must rely on the everyday faith that has been growing
in our hearts from hearing the Word of God.
That special faith that Daniel had to trust God to keep him safe is
known as the Gift of Faith. When our own faith is not strong enough to
meet the challenge we are facing, God can give us a divine peace, power,
and confidence that He will be there to keep us. In very difficult and
dangerous times we can trust that God will be there for us like he was
for Daniel.
