There are many characters that experience Racial Discrimination. Jimmy Raven had put his life on the line in France by being in the war, but when he came back he was still discriminated against. A quote not from the book would be: Never Judge a book by its cover. But thats what they happened. Gerald Mortlock murdered Jimmy Raven because he had rushed up to Gerald and Gerald had shot at him. A quote from the book is: Jimmy had bled to death like any other man. Why would the colour of his skin make him any different inside? Another example is Walter. He and his uncle David moved to Boort. But when the kids there saw Walters skin colour they started teasing him. They laughed at his skin, his background, and blamed thins that they had done on him. A quote from the book would be: isnt it interesting how black boys make trouble but white boys just have accidents? in the book Sadie and Walter were told to go and play pool when they were at the Pub, but while they were playing, Lachie and his mates had came and told them to move on because it wasnt their turn. One last incident that happened was when Ellie, David and Craig were teenagers. Ellie and Craig were going out when David came to Boort. To make a long story short, David asked Ellie out and she said, Yes so Craig and his mates tricked him into going down to the lake to fish. But they bashed him up and chucked him into the lake where he nearly drowned.

In conclusion, all the acts of discrimination were
obviously about their skin colour or jealousy, and are completely uncalled for.
