anyMESH Introduction

anyMESH is a program of AnyCasting for editing mesh. In the case of a 3D CAD model error, anyMESH
allows users to proceed with calculation by editing the existing mesh without having to revise geometry and
create new mesh. Optimized for OpenGL and Microsoft Windows,anyMESH can quickly process tens of
millions of meshes, as well as conveniently edit meshes using both keyboard and mouse.

2.1 Window Layout

Menu & Toolbar


Select Paint: Combo box for displaying/changing current paint
Entity Tree Window: Display all entities in tree structure
Entity Setup Window: Display/change currently selected entity properties
Mode Display: Display cursor coordinate as well as entity properties
Cross Display: Display cursor position

ID: Identification number of entity


Main Type: Main entity type such as CAST, MOLD
Sub Type: Sub entity type such as CAVITY, OVERFLOW of CAST
Color: Display/change color
Lock: Display/change lock status

2.2 Mouse & Keyboard Instruction


anyMESH allows users to conveniently edit mesh by using mouse and keyboard at the same time by placing
shortcut keys on the left side of keyboard for user convenience.

Mouse Instruction
Pan: Middle button click & drag
Zoom In/Out: Wheel spin
Select: Left mouse button click (to change the current cursor position)
Different cursor shapes according to the mouse mode are as follow:

Standard Mode

Zoom In/Out
Zoom In Selected Area

Right Mouse Button Menu


Clicking the right mouse button while the cursor is placed on top of an entity will display corresponding entity
menu. Clicking the button while the cursor is on background will display the View menu.

Invisible/Visible: Show/hide entity
Color: Change color
Lock/Unlock: Enable/disable lock status (read-only)
Set as Paint: Set as paint

Keyboard Instruction
Move Layer: Press A to move layer in (+) direction and Z key for (-) direction
Edit Mesh: Current cursor on the first location, paint selected area with mouse click while pressing down
Shift
Change User Point: Change user point in six directions (x, y, z) by pressing Alt+1~6
Zoom In Selected Area: Shortcut for View->Zoom Window is C
Return to Previous View: Shortcut for View->Previous View is V
Fit to Screen: Shortcut for View->Fit to Window is F
Paint Current Cursor Location: Change the cell of current cursor location by pressing the spacebar

2.3 View Control/Adjustment

Basic Functions
- Pan: Middle button click & drag
- Zoom In/Out: Wheel spin
- Move Layer: Press A to move layer in (+) direction and Z key for (-) direction
- Zoom In Selected Area: Select View->Zoom Window or click & drag left mouse button after pressing C key
- Return to Previous View: Select View->Previous View or press V
- Fit to Screen: Select View->Fit to Window or press F

Render Mode
anyMESH supports various render modes, as shown below. Edge displays entity boundaries and Outline
displays cross-section of CAD model.

Edit Mesh

Using the mouse and keyboard simultaneously, a mesh or several meshes within a certain area can be
changed all at once.

3.1 Move Current Mesh Location


Using the arrow keys, it can be moved by each cell. Using the left mouse button, selected a cell to move.
The layer can be changed through the below methods.
- Press A to increase and Z to decrease
- Press the Spin button in the layer toolbar
- After entering a number in the input window of the layer toolbar, press Enter

3.2 Set Paint


Select an entity to use as paint from the combo box at the upper left corner, or click the right mouse button
on top of an entity to use as paint and select the Set as Paint menu.

An entity that is currently selected as paint is displayed in bold letters in the tree list

3.3 Change a Mesh


1. Select a mesh to change by using the arrow keys or clicking the left mouse button.
2. Press the spacebar to change to current paint. Pressing the spacebar once again will return to the previous
state.

3.4 Simultaneously Change Meshes in a Selected Area


Meshes in the area selected as below can be simultaneously changed all at once.
Selection Point
1. Select the starting point of an area to change by clicking the left mouse button.
2. While pressing Shift, select the end point of the area to finish making changes.

Selection Rectangle / Ellipse / Polygon


1. Select the starting point of an area to change by clicking the left mouse button.
2. By dragging mouse to select the area, press the spacebar to finish making changes.
(In case Polygon -> Select the points and click the right mouse button to select the area.
And then press the spacebar to finish making changes.)
Selection Extrude (Select multi-layer areas)
1. By using Rectangle / Ellipse / Polygon, select the area
(Do not press the spacebar)
2. Input the Start/ End layer number at Extrude window and click Ok

*Note
The mesh file (*.mshx, *.msh) saved after the change can be imported through the anyPRE->Mesh->Import
Mesh menu to replace existing mesh.

3.5 Undo
To return to previous state, press Ctrl+Z or select the Edit->Undo menu. The Undo function can be performed only once.

3.6 Lock/Unlock
Locking all entities (read-only) except for an entity to change allows easier editing.
- Select the right mouse Lock menu on an entity to edit
- Select Unlock to cancel Lock
- Select the Entity->Unlock All menu to unlock all locked entities

Locked entities are displayed in gray, and do not change.


*Note
Each entity must have more than one mesh.

Preference

4.1 Set Color

Background: Change background color. Default color is white.


Edge Line: Change the color of mesh line & entity edge lines. Default color is black.
Selected Cell: Change the cursor color. Default color is red.
Section: Change the color of outline extracted from CAD. Default color is red.

4.2 Set Moving size of layer

Step Size : Set the moving size when layer is moved
