From the
Registration for Spring 2017 is right around the corner, so I thought I'd highlight a few of the new Honors seminars we'll be offering next semester. Most of our seminars are open to all Honors students and
most provide general education credit.
HON 2220 (Section 2) -- Prof. Johannes Schmidt -- "The Holocaust and the Eichmann Trial." Adolph
Eichmann, one of the major organizers of the Nazi Holocaust, was tried and convicted of crimes against
humanity in Jerusalem in 1962. The trial, which was chronicled by the political theorist Hannah Arendt
in a controversial and influential book, provides extraordinary insights into the Nazi era and into the nature of evil. Provides non-literature humanities credit.
HON 2210 (Section 2) -- Prof. Stephen Marks -- "Russian Film History." The Russian Film industry dates
back more than a century and provides a lens for the study of Russian history and culture, from Tzarist
times to the present. Provides literature credit.
HON 2220 (Section 1) -- Prof. Yanming An -- "Views of History in the Ancient World." Our views of history are profoundly shaped by cultural assumptions and perspectives. In this seminar, Prof. An examines three views of history -- from the perspectives of China, Ancient Greece, and the Judeo-Christian
tradition. Provides non-literature humanities credit.

Grad School 101

The Graduate School is hosting a presentation called Grad
School 101 - a program aimed at undergraduate students
who may be considering graduate school. We will discuss the

reasons for considering graduate school and provide pointers on

navigating the application process.
It will be held on:
Tuesday, October 25th from
5pm-6pm in Vickery Hall 100.

The class will meet on the following dates and times in

301 Riggs Hall:
An LSAT Prep Class will be offered by the Political Science Department during October 2016 to help students prepare for the LSAT exam. The course is taught by Prof. William Lasser, and is open to students and alumni of Clemson
University.
The cost of the course, including materials, is $125 for juniors
and seniors in the College of Business, and departments of
Political Science, Psychology, Sociology and Anthropology
($250 for all others). Full payment is due by Monday, October
17, 2016. Please note: this course will be taught only if there
is sufficient demand; if the course is not offered, students will
receive a full refund.
The LSAT prep course is designed to provide students with
basic information about the test; study skills; approaches to
the various question-types on the exam; and hints about specific exam issues. The course works best in conjunction with
the students' own intensive self-study in the month before the
exam. Students do not receive academic credit for this
course, and study materials are not provided.

Wednesday, October 26, 2016, 5:00-7:30pm,

Monday, October 31, 2016, 5:00-7:30pm
If there is a class prior to the LSAT course, please do not
enter the room until the previous class has been completed.
To register and pay for the course, please see Ms. Angie
Guido in 232 Brackett Hall (656-5401, nangela@clemson.edu) before October 17, 2016 at 3:30pm. We
