The Department of Pre-University Education welcomes you to the New academic year 2012-2013. 2. The Department of Pre-University Education is on the threshold of Integration with Main stream education in academics in the Science Stream comprising Physics, Chemistry,Mathematies and Biology for this Year 2012-13. This is a precursor to similar reforms in other streams in the year 2013-14, 3. In continuation of the circular of this office dated:18.01.2012, the Government of Karnataka (Department of PUE) is introducing National Core Curriculum in Science and Mathematics for First Year Pre-University from the academic year 2012-2013 and for the Second Year PUC from the academic year 2013-2014. 4, In the National Core Curriculum all Science Lecturers in Physics, Chemistry and Biology shall take 4 hours of theory and 2 hours of practicals per week per section. The number of students in a practical batch shall remain the same as it is existing.The syllabus is for 120 hours of Theory and 44 hours of Practicals (22 practical classes) per year for First year PUC from 2012-13 onwards. 5. All Mathematics lecturers shall teach 5 hours of Theory per week per section. The syllabus is for 140 hours of theory per year for First Year PUC from 2012-13 onwards in the National Core Curriculum. 6. There will be a change in the calendar of events. The schedule will be as follows. Calendar of Events for 2012-13. a) Opening of the college for the academic year: 30.05.2012. 'b) Commencement of Second Year P.U classes : 01-06-2012 c) Commencement of First Year P.U classes: 11-06-2012 d) Mid Term Holidays (Ten days only) 20-10-2012 to 29-10-2012 (Both days inclusive) ¢) Last date of working —_: 30-03-2013 f) Summer Vacation :01-04-2013 to 29-05-2013 (Both days inclusive) (rer Nessnal aeCuri 7. All the details pertaining to. weightage of marks and hours of teaching for each unit in Theory and Practicals subjectwise is provided in the Annexure-1. 8 A model blue print of the question paper subject wise is provided for immediate reference along with the circular. For each subject Four model question papers along with the blue prints and scheme of valuation is provided in the textbooks. A model scheme of valuation for practicals is also provided along with this circular. The details are available in the Lab Manual. 10. The Department will be introducing Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) for First Year PUC in Science, Arts and Commerce from the academic year 2012-13. Details will be given in the next circular shortly. 11. There will be no change of syllabus in other Science subjects Electronics/Computer Science/Home Science /Geology) Arts/Commerce and Languages for I PUC for the academic year 2012-13. 12. The Govt. has permitted the Department to revise the curriculum in the remaining Science subjects/Arts/Commerce/Languages effective from 2013- 2014. Thus there will be a change of Curriculum in the above subjects for First Year PUC from the next Academic Year (2013-2014) and for the Second Year PUC from the Academic Year 2014-2015. ret eon oe Curiam 13, Therefore, during the Academic Year 2012-2013 except in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology in all other subjects, the existing syllabus shall continue for both First Year PUC and Second Year PUC. There will be no change in the pattern of the Question paper also in these subjects for Il PUC. However for I PUC there will be the change in the question paper pattern details will be given in the next circular shortly. 14. This must be brought to the notice of students and lecturers. There is no change in the curriculum of Second Year PUC-Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology for the Academic Year 2012-2013. Students shall write the Il Year PU examination in March 2013 in the same existing question Paper pattern, Commissioner Dept of P U Education.
