INSTRUCTIONS TO STUDENTS
1. Your assignment should be typed using 12-point Times New Roman font
and 1.5 line spacing.
2. You are to submit assignment only in MS-WORD format unless specified
otherwise. Please refrain from converting text/phrases into picture
format such as .gif / .jpeg / print screen / etc.
3. Submission Method:
a. Face-to-face student:
You MUST submit a softcopy of your assignment online through
myINSPIRE and a hardcopy to your facilitator.
b. Online student:
You MUST submit a softcopy of your assignment via myINSPIRE
and another softcopy to the e-facilitator via e-mail.
You can submit your assignment ONCE only in a SINGLE file in
myINSPIRE. You are advised to keep a copy of your submitted
assignment and the RECEIPT as evidence of online submission.
4. Your assignment must be submitted on 21st 23rd October 2016 (3rd
Seminar).
5. Your assignment should be prepared individually. You should not copy
another persons assignment. You should also not plagiarise another
persons work as your own.

ASSIGNMENT 1
OBJECTIVE:
In this assignment, the main objective is to present discerning arguments to provide insights
or solutions to two educational issues or problems that deserve attention in the preparation
of a dissertation for a EdD programme.
INSTRUCTIONS:
The assignment is to be presented in THREE PARTS.

Part 1 involves stating the research problem which encompasses TWO educational
issues/problems. (about 3 pages)
Part 2 should discuss the issues/problems by presenting effective arguments that
show a debate that surrounds them. The argument should be well-supported by
relevant literature review (8 readings for each issue/problem raised). (about 12
pages)
Part 3 presents the possible approaches to address the issue/problem raised. These
approaches can make reference to a conceptual framework that shows the
operationalization of the constructs identified in the issues/problems raised. Discuss
how you would gather data as a means of providing answers or insights into how the
issues/problems can be addressed. (about 5 pages)

QUESTION
Discuss TWO issues or problems that are of concern in education. For each issue/problem,
you are to highlight the debate that surrounds the issues/problems raised. After the
discussion, you are to propose some possible approaches or solutions that could provide
concrete insights to address the associated concerns.

Assignment Format:

The assignment should contain about 3000 5000 words (15 20 pages).
b.
Provide reference using the American Psychological Association (APA) format.
c.
References should be latest (year 2005 onwards).

- What are the ecological problems?
- What are the problems within the personal space or experience of the
researcher?
2. Identifying the sources or causes of the issues/ problems
- Why are they considered as issues/problems?
- What are the different perspectives/ sources that give insights into the
problems?
- What is the researchers stance on the issues/problems?
3. Proposing approaches/solutions to the concerns raised
- Are the proposals logical and well-reasoned?
- Are the proposals practical and feasible?
- Is the methodology for obtaining data clearly explained?
4. Stating a conceptual framework
- Are the variables clearly defined?
- How is the description related to theory/theories?
5. Structuring of the paper
- Is it clearly organized?
- Is there a coherent flow of ideas?
- Does the reference list follow the APA style?
