Sam Houston MSTC Dance Concert Contract

Dear Parents and Dance Students,

2016

September

You are receiving this letter because your son/daughter is enrolled in a dance
class at Sam Houston MSTC. As part of each dance class, there is a concert
requirement. The concert is Thursday December 8th at 7:00pm in the
Auditorium. This will be an exciting event that your child has been
preparing for all semester. All family and friends are invited and encouraged
to attend the dance concert. Below are the time commitments and point
breakdown for the concert, as this event is part of their final grade for the
class.

*Please keep in mind that it is a possibility that dancers MAY be

done early on rehearsal day. It is not likely, but always a possibility.
In addition to the after school rehearsals, students are not able to miss class
the week of the concert. This includes December 5th- 8th. If there is an
emergency and your child cannot attend school during this week, please
contact me so I can excuse the absence. If I am not contacted regarding the
absence within 24hours, your child will be removed from the concert and will
lose the points corresponding to the dates above. My contact information is
listed below. Since these requirements are part of a class/grade, students will
be excused from all sports/extracurricular activities. It is the students
responsibility to coordinate with coaches to arrange excuses prior to
the absence.
The Concert
The concert will begin at 7:00pm and will run approximately 1 hour with one
10 minute intermission. Tickets will be sold at the door for $5; students with
school ID $3; children that are young enough to sit on your lap will be free.

Video Taping
It is my plan to have the show recorded and be able to sell the DVD to you.
For those of you however that wish to record it yourself, that is allowed. The
only thing I ask is that there is no flash involved in video or photography. This
is very distracting to the dancers and to other audience members.

Please Be On Time
For every 5 minutes that a student is late, 2 points will be deducted from
their total concert grade. There will be a sign in sheet for both Dress
Rehearsal and Dance Concert. You will be responsible for signing in by the
designated time and no one else should sign in for you. If I find out someone
else signed in for you, you and that person will lose half of the points for that
day.
Concert Clothing
We will be ordering dance concert t-shirts with the title of the concert, date
and design on it. A date will be set when the money for the shirt must be
paid, it will be towards the end of November. These shirts will be what is worn
for the dance concert. We use the funds raised from concert attendance to
purchase costumes and right now we do not have enough in the budget to
purchase enough costumes for this performance.
Along with the Concert T-shirt, all female students will need to purchase black
ankle length leggings. These can be purchased at just about any clothing
store. They need to be approved by Ms. Pauli to ensure they are not seethrough. Male students may purchase black shorts. They may be basketball
or regular shorts but must be all black.
Items to Purchase
Dance Concert T-shirt
Black Leggings (Purchase on own)
Optional Dance Shoes (Dance pirouettes or dance paws)

$15.00
$5-$10
$15-$20

Concert Hair and Makeup

All dancers will be required to have the same hair and makeup for the dance
concert. The hair style for each class will be a straight back pony tail with a
side braid and a part on the left side. A demonstration of this hairstyle will be
given closer to the concert.
The makeup worn for the concert will consist of the following; overall
foundation, blush on the cheekbones; eyeliner on the top and bottom,
mascara on the top and bottom (fake eyelashes are ok but not required),
smokey eye eye shadow and red lipstick (no other color of lipstick will be
allowed).
It is very important that all dancers have the same hair and makeup so that
we look uniform and professional on stage. The makeup is also important so
that your face will not look washed out from the bright lights of the stage. If

you have a problem with your child wearing the above makeup please
contact me so we can discuss it.
No visible jewelry will be allowed during Dress Rehearsal or Dance Concert.
For each time you are seen with jewelry on stage 5 points will be deducted
from your total concert grade.
Dance Concert Rules
Read Carefully!
