Human Environment Interaction

Human environment interaction is one of the themes of geography that is
divided into three branches. How humans depend on the environment,
how humans modify the environment and how humans adapt to the
environment. Human environment interaction is basically how humans
interact with the environment. The first branch is how humans depend

on the environment. This branch is what humans need to be able to

survive. We need food, water, shelter, and clothing. We get these
things from the environment. Everything comes from nature. For
example, we make chairs from metal and plastic. We make the
plastic using oil and we get metal from the world. The second
branch is how humans modify the environment. Humans modify the
environment to reach their needs. For example, in GJS we cut down
the trees to build the school buildings that serves as shelter. When
we were in Jogjakarta, people used lava stone and made it into a
temple (Borobudur temple). They did this for religion and shelter
purposes. We also cut down trees and modify them into furniture
such as tables, chairs, etc. Other than shelter, we also kill animals
for food. At Jogjakarta, people cut the trees and modified it into a
farmland where they planted rice and corn and other plants. The
last branch is how humans adapt to the environment.
Humans adapt to the environment by using different clothing. For
example, people who live in Indonesia wear t-shirts and parts while
people who live in Canada wear coats, jackets and more. We also
create inventions to adapt into our environment. For example, we
created the air conditioner and the heater to keep us warm/cold. I
conclude that the geographic theme human environment interaction
is an important part of our everyday lives.

This tells me that Jogja
is rich in materials that
come from the earth.
Therefor, Jogja is quite
dependent on natural
materials.
