8 Thunderbird Storm

11. With the engine still on and warmed up by now it is time to check and/or balance the throttle bodies.
12. Click on Throttle Body Balance and then Check Balance.
13.

As you can see from the screen shot below there are two cylinders activated. They should have equal kPa
and the word Balanced should appear at the bottom. If it says Unbalanced then it needs to be adjusted.

14. To adjust the throttle body balance turn the screw

clockwise or anti-clockwise depending on which
adjustment is needed. The screw is located under the
tank behind the engine block. Your fingers will be
enough to turn it.
15. Once the cylinders are balanced you can press Back to
Main Menu and close DealerTool. Turn off the bike
and unplug the cable.
16. Return the OBD-II connector to its mounting point and
return the left side cover to the bike.

TuneECU

Triumph Software Advantages

Overview
TuneECU is free software (http://www.tuneecu.com)
capable of re-mapping your motorcycle Electronic
Control Module/Unit (ECM/ECU). I assume that this
function is possible within the Triumph Software but
the manual makes little mention of it. If used wrong
this software can destroy the brains of your bike, so it
needs to be done with a degree of sensible caution.
However, unless you are changing the exhaust or
wanting a custom ECM map specific to your bike, you
will not need to use this software, DealerTool will
suffice. The purpose of this site/resource is to provide
you with all the details for regular maintenance
therefore the use of TuneECU will not be covered.
Furthermore, the guides provided by TuneECU are
already completely adequate and can be found through
their website under downloads. It is important to
follow the installation instructions exactly. The
TuneECU manual explains how to use the software
and there is a specific guide on adjusting the Throttle
Position Sensor (TPS) and the Idle Speed Control
(ISC) if needed, which is rare.

The following is a list of things missing from both

DealerTool and TuneECU that the Triumph Service
Manual says should be provided with the Triumph
Software.

motor (Read see specific instructions on web) Freeze frame data
The Triumph software will provide you with Freeze
Frame Data at the time of a fault code being logged
with the ECM. This may be useful if you are trying to
work out what was happening with the bike at the time
of the fault.
