1.0 Concept
In 1903 an English mathematician called Henry Ernest Dudeney worked out
how to turn a perfect square into a perfect equilateral triangle by dissecting the
square in to 4 distinct shapes, these shapes can be rearranged into the triangle.
This concept alone is fascinating but and the possibilities are endless
when applying the formula to world of architecture and design.

A good puzzle should demand the exercise of our best wits and ingenuity, and although
a knowledge of mathematics ... and ... of logic are often of great service in the solution
of these things, yet it sometimes happens that a kind of natural cunning and sagacity is
of considerable value.

2.0 Design
8 POSITIONS AND INFINITE POSSIBILITIES
Inspired by mathematics, D*Table is a fully functioning 3d puzzle that translates
its form into a fully flexible and adaptable low/coffee table. The white cube-like
form can be transformed into the triangle, showing off D*Tables clean lines and
flexible geometries. Long sweeping movements create a sense of energy in the
table that invites the user to interact with it. D*Table can be celebrated as the
centre piece of a room or is equally suited to sitting along a wall on in the corner
of a room.

PRACTICAL AND DIVERSE

Functions literally unfold as the table is opened. Great as a storage box when
in square formation, D*Table can hide your every day life away inside its inbuilt
storage. As the table is made up of four individual units, each with its own purpose,
every part of D*Table has a unique functionality.
D*Table measures 700 x 700mm when is square formation and 1060 x 1060
x 1060mm when in triangle formation. To enable simple transportation, each
element of D*Table can be manually detached using the simple hinge solution
unique to D*Table.

Flexible custom colour hinge

3.0 Features
The Table is manufactured in Denmark at the same factory where the famous Bang
& Olufsen produce their TVs and Hifis. The D*Table is made to these same high standards
Development of a unique custom made hinge, flexible and hard wearing. The hinge is available in
different colours meaning the customer can refresh the table by changing colour of hinges,
creating a great accessory to the table
A 0.5mm sheet of aluminium sheet is laid under the top surface of the table giving extra protection
against impact
Magnets introduced to each of the individual moving elements to allow the table to lock into place

This brain-boggling coffee table is based on mathematician Henry Dudeneys

1902 Haberdashers Puzzle a way of cutting an equilateral triangle into four
shapes that can be rearranged into a perfect square. You can open and close the
hinged segments in eight configurations, or pull them apart into separate side
tables. They each offer a different storage solution, including drawers, shelves
and a bottle holder.

D*Coaster
D*Coaster is another product that utilises the 1903 formula but also acts
as the perfect accessory to D*Table
Made form Corian - a high quality, heat resistant surface material traditionally
used in luxury kitchen design - when D*Coaster is separated, the elements
can be used as individual coasters and when pushed together to either a
square or triangle they can be used as trivets.
