Part 2. Written Response

Please write out your detailed responses to all the questions below. Make sure you limit your
responses to no more than 300 words.
1. Describe 2 qualifications that single you out from other candidates. Be specific to your
position of applying. If applying for more than one position, please address the question
for all positions.
One major qualification that singles me out from the other candidates in this e-board election is
that I served as Treasurer this academic year. I have acquired a lot of knowledge in receiving
funding for this club, and the logistics that follow. Being the treasurer has allowed me to grow as
a leader in many ways, and has embedded in me another level of responsibility. I believe that this
new sense of responsibility will bring unity and stability to the club.
Furthermore, I had the chance to serve as Vice President for the Foundation of International
Medical Relief of Children (FIMRC) this year. Because it is a small club that has just started, I
have seen how the harnessed dedication of a small group of people can elicit major changes in
the community. We were able to fundraise hundreds of dollars to send to clinics in El Salvador. I
have seen how collaboration is the breeding ground of novelty. When a potpourri of different
disciplines is thrown into this mix, the resulting ideas can have revolutionary reverberations; I
would like to see this in Brandeis. I believe this vision is important as a Vice President of any
club and I will work hard to promote the spreading of Korean culture.
2. Describe what you plan or expect to improve yourself by working as a BKSA E-Board
member. Also describe how KSA can improve from your contribution.
It may sound like a clich, but I want to improve my leadership skills. This includes enhancing
decision-making, negotiating, resolving conflicts, understanding others, and most importantly,
influencing others. I have matured greatly serving as Treasurer and I wish to show others how
seriously I take KSA. I have my own flaws, however I wish to really show my dedication and
passion to the board so that I may teach them to work hard together.
If elected Vice President, I wish to shape KSA into a more organized and structural club. Even
though the club ran smoothly and quite organized, I believe there is still room for improvement. I
have observed a lot of confusion and panic throughout some board members, and I wish to
minimize the chaos. I will do this through more documentation for our up-coming events, and
use our meeting notes more. Being part of the board this year, I believe I am one of very little to
really tackle our problems efficiently.

3. Pick a BKSA event during 2015-2016 academic year and criticize it. 1) What could you
have done differently to improve the outcome of the event? 2) What do you wish you
had seen more of? Less of?
One event that needed a lot of improvement this year was Pojangmacha. We planned the event in
a rush, and were not able to satisfy the people who came. Although it was a very rare occurrence
in my time serving this club, I believe that rushed planning and disorganization is a common
theme throughout our events. As Vice President, I will try my best to foresee potential problems,
and will act upon it as soon as possible. I will coordinate with the future event coordinator way
ahead of the event, and will implement strict policies to minimize mistakes and errors.
I would like to see more publicity. Although our turnout this year was not bad compared to
previous years, they could be improved. Looking back, we did not advertise as much as before,
leading to smaller turnouts. I wish to see more posters and reminders about our events, and I will
make sure it happens.
4. Tell us something unique or interesting about yourself. This can be a unique skill set or
something completely random.
I hate eating cheese by itself. I will throw up.
