-----------------------------1. OVERVIEW
-----------------------------[IndexMatic Pro 2.0] helps you to create an independent index from
any InDesign document or book. You can use it to automatically
pre-build subject, language, or author indexes. The script provides an
extended set of methods that inspect the target document(s), track
every occurrence of the desired keywords or expressions, and report
the corresponding page numbers.
[IndexMatic Pro 2.0] is based on a sophisticated query engine that
allows many refinements through regular expressions, style filtering,
'page rank', topic rewriting...
[IndexMatic Pro 2.0] offers several output formats: plain text file,
XML file, and InDesign snippet (only in CS4/CS5).
-----------------------------2. INSTALLATION
-----------------------------[IndexMatic Pro 2.0] consists in the [IndexMaticPro.jsx] file
downloaded and licensed through <www.indiscripts.com>. There
is no activation process, the [IndexMaticPro.jsx] file is fully
functional right now. Please note that this file is digitally
watermarked: it contains your personal registration data.
In order to get [IndexMatic Pro 2.0] available from the InDesign
Scripts panel, you need to store the [IndexMaticPro.jsx] file
in one of your "Scripts Panel" folders:
-- Run InDesign and display the Scripts panel
(Window > Automation > Scripts or Window > Utilities > Scripts).
-- Right-click the "Application" folder if you need the script to be
used by all users, or the "User" folder if you need the script to be
used only by the current user.
-- In the fly-out menu, pick "Reveal in Explorer" (Windows) or
"Reveal in Finder" (Mac OS).
-- If there is not already a "Scripts Panel" subfolder within the
revealed "Scripts" folder, create here a new folder named
"Scripts Panel".
-- Then, put [IndexMaticPro.jsx] into your "Scripts Panel" folder.

If you have problems in installing the script, please contact

-----------------------------4. GETTING STARTED

-----------------------------To run the script, open the InDesign Script panel (Window >
Automation > Scripts or Window > Utilities > Scripts) and simply
double-click [IndexMaticPro.jsx].
[IndexMatic Pro 2.0] can also be assigned to a shortcut key, using
the InDesign keyboard shortcuts editor (Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts...).
The simplest way to test [IndexMatic Pro 2.0] is to use the Automatic
search mode (default). This hides the details of the query system
and allows to quickly produce an index from scratch, without any
explicit set of queries:
1. Open an InDesign document and launch the script. Make sure that
'Active Document' is highlighted as the scoped document (Scope panel).
2. In the Search Mode panel, select 'Automatic' and adjust the Min. and
Max. Length of the words that you want to capture.
3. In the 'Default Options' panel, set the Page Rank to 3 or 4.
4. Finally, click 'Build index'.
