Classroom Learning Environment Focus

The students will sit at their desks as I teach the lesson.
The students will sit quietly and raise their hands.
Lesson Plan
a. Initiation
I will gain the students interest in the lesson by talking about what
they think the story taught them.
b. Sequence of Learning Activities/questions/transitions
After the initiation I will tell the students that we are going to
learn about theme.
They will watch this video.
Then I will have the students review the main points.
I will ask
o What is theme?
o Will the author tell you the theme or will you have to
figure it out on your own?
o How will you support the theme that you find?
o Why are themes important?
Once I believe that the students are meeting the SLO I will
show them an example of this voki avatar.
Then the students will go here to create their own voki.
o Their voki must state a theme in Charlie and the
Chocolate Factory.
o Their voki must also be either of themselves or of a
character from the story.
o Their voki must state evidence of the theme in the story
(Page, Paragraph, quote, etc.)
Once the students have completed their avatars them will
post their link on this padlet (to share with their classmates,
and for grading by the teacher).
Then wrap up the lesson.
c. Closure
Wrap up: I will randomly select (pick a popsicle stick with their
name) three avatars to share with the class.
I will talk about how the students found multiple themes with
in the same book.
