National Exam Date:- 08°" May 2016. National Talent Search Scheme is a flagship activity of the NCERT, New Delhi started in the year 1963. The purpose of the scheme was to identify talented students and nurture their talent. Talent refers to the potentiality that manifests itself in a high level of performance in one of more specialized areas. It honors and helps talented student by providing financial assistance in the form of a monthly Scholarship. For the courses in Basic Science, Social Science and Commerce, this assistance is provided up to Ph. D. level. For professional courses like Engineering, Medicine, Management and Law this assistance is given only up to Post Graduation. From the selection year 2012-13, the NCERT is conducting the National Talent Search Examination for students studying in Class 10" only. No of Scholarships: On the basis of the examination conducted, 1000 scholarships will be awarded for group of students appearing for Class 10". in all over India. 1) Reservation: 15% scholarships will be reserved for students belonging to the SC category, 7.5% scholarships for students belonging to the ST category. There will be also 3% reservation for Physically Challenged students in each caste category, 2) Scholarship: Awardees of NTS Examination will receive scholarship as under as per NCERT rules. (a) Scholarship of Rs. 1250/- per month for Class-XI to XII. (b) Scholarship of Rs. 2000/- per month for Undergraduates and Post-graduates. (c) Amount of Scholarship for Ph.D. will be fixed in accordance with the UGC norms. 3) Selection: There will be two-stage selection process for award of scholarship. {a) Stage-t, selection will be done by States / UTs through a written examination. Students registered under Open Distance Learning (ODL) will also be eligible for scholarship, provided the student is below the age of 18 years (as on 1° July of the particular year), provided the student is not employed and s/he is appearing in class X examination for the first time. n for Class 10" will be as follows - 6) Examination: The pattern of written examin: ‘A) Stage | examination at the State / UT level will comprise three parts, By order of NCEERT from the educational year 2015-16 there will be following changes. 1) Paper Il:- Language Testing paper will be of SO marks instead of 40 marks. 2) Paper Ill:- Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) paper will be of 100 marks instead of 90 marks. a) Paper I:- Mental Ability Test (MAT) 50 Marks, b) Paper IL:- Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) 50 Marks, Language Testing (Marathi / English) c) Paper Iil- Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) 100 Marks. Subjects other than languages Detailed scheme of marks will be as follows: 1) Social sciences: - History 15 marks, Geography 15 marks, Political Science 05 marks, Economics 05 marks. 2) Science: - Physics 13 marks, Chemistry 13 marks, Biology 14 marks. 3) Maths :- Algebra 10 marks and Geometry 10 marks.B) Stage 11_examination at the National level In due course NCERT will intimate about this. 7) State Quotas: Each state / Union Territory has been allotted a quota to recommend a specific number of candidates for the Stage II examination. For Maharashtra it is 366. However, there will be no state / Union Territory Quota for the final award of scholarship after the stage Il examination. Reservation for SC, ST and Physically challenged will be as notified in para 2 above. 8) Application Forms: Application Forms for state level will not be provided by NCERT. In Maharashtra online application forms will be available to schools from 1* August, 2015 on MSCE web www.mscepune.in SBI challans will be available on website. Only school authority shall fill the online forms and S forms. Printout of all online forms, duly signed by students & parents, along with attested copy of caste, disability certificate and ‘S’ forms print out signed by Head Master of school and SB! Challan (amount deposited in favour of MSCE) are to be submited by school to the respective Education Officer / Educational Inspectors by 31‘ August, 2015. No application should be sent to NCERT/ this office directly. 9] Fees: States and Union Territories may notify the fee required (refer NCERT website) which will be paid for the Stage-l examination. For Maharashtra the examination fee per student is Rs. 120/- , Affiliation fee Rs. 200/- per school per academic year is required. (Only through school by SBI challan.) However, NCERT does not charge any fee for the Stage-tI examination 10) Announcement of Results: Result of the Stage-1 examination will be announced by the respective State Governments / Union Territories. Result of Stage-II examination will be announced by NCERT, New Delhi. 11) Indian Students Studying Abroad can appear directly for Stage Il NTS Examination under conditions prescribed in the NTS brochure for class 10" which is available on the NCERT website. Candidates may fill up relevant items of the Application Form available on the NCERT website and send to the NCERT along with a photocopy of the mark sheet of previous examination latest by March 30, 2016.
