In todays competitive business environment, Quality Management has

become a key ingredient in the development and delivery of products
and services. Quality managers are called upon to evaluate, design and
implement programmes to ensure that the best products or services
from a company are delivered.
The M.Tech. programme in Quality management is offered by BITS
Pilani with the intention of enhancing the operational and management
expertise of professionals who seek leadership roles in this area. They
are enabled to incorporate the principles of Quality Management in
operational and strategic management and make effective changes
within their organisations.
PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHTS

semester programme. The
programme places strong emphasis
on practical, applied content using
experiential and interactive learning
methods. Case-discussions,
exercises, simulation, and role-plays
in addition to lectures and discussions
with faculty provide a learning
experience, all of which is immediately
available for application at the
workplace.
Students get operational and
strategic perspectives on quality
management which enables them to
effectively plan, design, organise,
implement and maintain the quality
system.
Provides rich set of resources for
research and experimentation.
Simulation software such as
FlexSim, Matrix, R, TORA and
other engineering software to gain
practical experience in analytics,
analysis and design of products and
manufacturing systems.
Lab exercises and assignments on
relevant topics for experiential
learning.
Well-defined work integrated
exercises to transform classroom
learning into practice.
Guided project at the workplace to
assimilate and implement the
learning from the coursework.
PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES
The goal of this post-graduate
programme is to provide a foundation

that helps engineering professionals

engage in continuous professional
and organisational development in
response to technological and system
challenges in quality management.
The programme provides the students
an understanding of contemporary
issues related to quality management
to bridge the gap between
engineering plan and quality. They are
coached in managing quality
throughout the product lifecycle
through an understanding of the
customer requirements, the
techniques of intelligent design for
quality and optimal test design. They
obtain an understanding of
manufacturing and service operations
so that they can identify quality trends
and cause innovation in the product
design and the production process.
Most importantly, the students are
able to design and implement quality
systems that are fully aligned with the
companys strategic business plan
and quality policy.
Programme graduates will be able to
confidently lead departmental and
cross functional teams- in
synthesising and implementing
innovative strategies to achieve the
organisational goals. To enable them
to do this, the programme will develop
them in providing leadership in
managing quality systemsacross
teams, projects, processes,
resources, product development and
operations; in managing innovation
and change, and in impacting the
quality culture of the organisation for
social transformation.
