This article is for our eminent teacher Mr. Anjan Kumar Roy Sir, the former HOD of Electrical
Engineering Department at one of the prestigious institutes in India the National Institute of Technology,

ut still through this article I am trying to
give you a short and efficacious description about this person with appreciable personality. At first, here
I am giving his short biography-----------He was born in India in 1949. He received B.Tech Degree in Electrical Engineering
from NIT Agartala (Erstwhile Tripura Engineering College) in 1971, MTech Degree in Electric
Machines from Bengal Engineering College, Shibpur, West Bengal, India and PhD from IIT,
Kharagpur. He served Tripura Engineering College first as Jr Lecturer and then as Lecturer
during the period from 1972 to 1984 and then joined N I T Silchar as Assistant Professor.
He served NIT Silchar as Dean. His professional interests are also appreciable--------Research interest: Electric Drives, Distributed Generation. Undergraduate Level:
Electric Machines, Electrical Drives, Power Electronics. Post-Graduate Level: FACTS,
Industrial Automation.
So till now we have discussed about his biography and professional interests, but
this article will remain incomplete without looking through his adorable personality. In a
single word we must have to admit it that he might be one of the greatest mistakes for many of us

in the sense that he was one of the best teachers for us. He did t allo at all the perso al i flue e of a
single part of students, but giving equal attention to all was his truly admirable supreme art. His style of
teaching sometimes dominated our hardworking in getting the requisite concepts. Saying something
only for once was not his attitude perhaps dogmatism was contrast towards his attitude. the art of

interested in seeking good questions from us than the good answers. It might be because in his thinking
generating a new idea is more important than to recite those theories. He tried a lot to ignite our
imagination for the world of electrical engineering. He initiated our dreams towards electrical
engineering world, pushed our steps to this world of power and accordingly leaded us to the next
plateau. Inside his class we were like the electric bulbs and he was like the current carrying wire that
