REVISION QUESTIONS- ACTION RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

I was teaching Year 4 Reading component and noticed the pupils

did not participate in the activities given. Only a few were active
and participated in the activities. Majority of the pupils were
observers. This was an issue which I encountered during my lesson.
Plan an action plan on how you would improvise your teaching to
encourage more pupils to participate in your lesson.

2 During your previous teaching experience you encountered an issue

of interest. Suggest a model which you would use for your action
plan and implementation of your action plan. Briefly explain the
procedure of action plan based on any one chosen model which you
think is appropriate.
3 There are various types of educational research designs. Choose
any three and explain briefly. You should include the aims,
characteristics, approaches and ethics of the research.

4 Mr. X noticed his pupils were unable to distinguish the pronunciation
sounds of /s/ and /z/. He wants to use picture cards to teach the
pronunciation to his Year 2 pupils. Suggest some methods that Mr. X
can employ to carry out his data collection. Briefly explain any three
methods which would help him collect data.

5 During your previous teaching experience you identified an issue

during your writing lesson. Mention the focus of practice to improve
and your action plan. Explain in detail on your data collection
methods. You should include at least three types of instrument.
6 Mr. Y identified Year 3 pupils were unable to spell three syllable
words. Mr. Y has incorporated various activities to encourage pupils
to spell three syllable words correctly. Mr. Y administered a pre-post
test, an observation checklist and exercise books. Recommend two
data collection considerations to Mr. Y. Explain with details and
examples.

7 Compare and contrast qualitative and quantitative data analysis.

Discuss briefly with mention of at least two elements. Include the
various data collection considerations and their merits in action
research.

8 During your action research process you have collected data from
an interview and a checklist. Explain briefly with relevant evidence
on the manner you would analyze the interview and checklist.
Explain your choice of mode whether it is quantitative or
quantitative. Also include the statistic procedure you would use.
9 Based on your previous teaching experience identify an issue which
you would consider for an action research. Write an action research
report. Include aspects of background of study, focus of practice to
improve, the action plan, the implementation of action plan, data
collection methods, data analysis and interpretation, reflection and
implications and plan for future action.
