Employee 1 (Mr. Raju Kumar)

Q. What are the extrinsic and intrinsic motivational practices followed by KFC?
Ans. To enhance employee motivation KFC is using one to one meetings
strategy. They have staff incentive programs, conventions and Champ Elysees.
KFC sends e-mail, together with the memorandum to the employees, the crew
incentive programs etc. The company also uses bottom-up approach and a top to
down in strategic decision making.
Q. Are you motivated?
Ans. Every employee is very much satisfied and happy to work at KFC. There
is motivation at every level. The company does not let the motivation of any
employee come down. The company always keeps working on the motivation
techniques and strategies to keep the motivation level of employees high all the
time.
Q. In your tenure at KFC did you ever feel that you were not motivated?
Ans. Not exactly, but sometimes I do feel bad when there is discrimination
between the qualified and non-qualified employees. The qualified employees
get more incentives and facilities compared to the non-qualified ones.

Employee 2 (Miss. Anjali Das)

Q. What are the extrinsic and intrinsic motivational practices followed by KFC?
Ans. KFC organizes guest speaking seminars with the CEO and senior
management meetings of different institutions. These seminars keep us
motivated for a long time. KFC also provides training to all the staffs. The
employees get an health benefit including medical and dental insurance.
Provides tution benefits for the children of the employees. They also get paid
vacation with holiday pay.
Q. Are you motivated?
Ans. Yes we do feel motivated working here. The incentives which we get and
the ratings we get according to our performance keeps us alert and doing our job
very well. We all work towards increasing our star rating every month. The
incentives which we get is directly related to number of stars a person has got.
Q. In your tenure at KFC did you ever feel that you were not motivated?
Ans. Yes sometimes. It rarely happens, but sometimes we are not able to work
due to some conditions and family tentions. In that case this is also taken into
consideration and the Manager reduces the rating. This decreases our motivation
sometimes to some extent, but we have to take the pain and move forward. Thus
we try not to miss any service and attend all the customers with full satisfaction.

MOTIVATIONAL FACTORS
Based on the above study I feel that KFC is working very hard to keep its
employees motivated and happy. With most of its staff on minimum wage, KFC
candidly admits that coming down hard when an individuals performance dips
isnt likely to get the best out of them. Instead, it champions a policy of
positive-praise where good work and development are openly praised and
acknowledged, while negatives are rarely dwelled upon. As a result, staff clearly
feel good about the work they do, which can only have a positive impact on
their productivity and wellbeing.
Money may be the great motivator, but when pay raises and bonuses just arent
available providing employees with structured personal development is essential
for keeping them engaged and happy. With growth at the heart of everything
KFC does, the fast-food retailer makes sure that its top performers get the praise
they deserve in the form of winners medals. This may be a bit of fun, but the
medals provide staff with a tangible proof of achievement which lifts morale
and gives others something to aim at.
Despite working in small teams, KFC has successfully created a company
culture within which its employees feel part of a big family. The management
have created tight-knit teams where work is fun and rewarding, while individual
achievement is given the platform to be recognised all the way up to national
level. The work might not be rocket-science and the pay far from great, but
what KFC demonstrates so perfectly is that money isnt the only thing that can
motivate employees. Praise, acknowledgement and a clear

personal

development process combined with a positive company culture can make any
business a place where people want to work and really buy-in to your company
mission.

MOTIVATION
To enhance motivation KFC is using one to one meetings strategy. They have
staff incentive programs and conventions to keep the employees motivated.
KFC also sends e-mail, together with the memorandum to the employees, the
crew incentive programs etc. KFC also reward their employees in terms of
promotion, payoff free meals depending on the level of the employee and how
much they perform their job well. Bounces are given to the employees on the
basis of My growth body points. If a person has 5 points he or she can get
benefits in term of financial bonuses.
