We hold the truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are

endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and
the pursuit of Happiness. This line means that we have many rights that, because of the
Declaration of Independance, they cant be taken away from us and some of those rights are the
right to live, the right to choose, and to try to be happy. If this ideal was being honored, todays
world would look a lot different. There would be less fatalities due to others and their opinions,
there would be more freedom without getting arrested and there would be things people do to
make themselves happy without getting arrested or even killed.
In todays world, the unalienable Right Life is not being honored because of some
current events that have been happening. In June 12, 2016, there was a shooting in a nightclub in
Orlando, Florida that resulted in the demise of 50 people. One man shot and killed 50 human
beings because of who they were and who they liked. This right is not being honored in our
world today because anyone can get a gun and ammo and start shooting anybody for whatever
reason they have. No matter what, one person should not kill another unless the law does it and
there is a valid reason for the person to be sentenced to death. It is stated in the Declaration of
Independence that Life is one of the rights that cannot be taken away.
One right that has been improving as America continues to develop is the pursuit of
Happiness. This right interpretes to everyone has the right to do what makes them happy as long
as its legal. An example for this would be the legalization of gay marriage. As of June 26th,
2015, same-sex marriage was legal. This would be an example of the pursuit of Happiness
because now members of the LGBTQ+ community can marry the person they love, which they
could not do legally before June 26th of last year.
A final example of how these rights are not being honored is because of the death of
singer, songwriter and youtuber Christina Grimmie. Grimmie got shot during her meet and greet
in Orlando, Florida on June 10th, 2016 by one of the people who waited in line to meet her. She
was rushed to the hospital whilst in serious conditions but the shooter killed himself after
Christinas brother tackled him even though the gunner was not planning on the scene to become
a murder-suicide case. The killer was obsessed with her for a while and had no reason to kill her.
This example supports my analysis because it shows how this right is not being honored in our
world because someone took the life of another for personal reasons, even though there is no
reason to kill someone unless they committed an unspeakable crime that needs to be dealt with.
America is like a child. Within a couple centuries America started gaining more and more
freedom. It started a while back but an example would be the emancipation proclamation,
President Abraham Lincoln gave slaves the freedom they deserved until his presidency ended.
After that, slavery was abolished with the 13th amendment in 1865. Nearly 60 years later,

women got the right to vote. And June 26th, 2015 same-sex marriage was made legal. America
began by trading and escalated to taking others land and money like a kid takes another kids
toys. Little by little we are getting the unalienable rights we deserve to enhance our world today
or in the future.
