c) The program undertaken by councils in implementing LA21

There have four example of program that undertaken by DBKL in

implementing Local Agenda 21. The first program is of Projek Sekolah Lestari
LA21 KL. The program began in April 2013 to October 2013 and it has
involvement from 25 schools. Furthermore, the program also received permission
from the Ministry of Education Department. The program also has contribution
with Ministry of Environment Department. The purpose of this program is to
encourage the primary and secondary school students to loving and take care of
their environment and flora and fauna. As we all know, environment is important
for us to take care it because it is our sources of oxygen and it important for our
future generation. In this program, they encourage the students to plants the
trees and take care of the environment. To encourage them to do so, the local
authority with other party has giving prizes for the winner of the program and it
has been announced in November 2013. The attractive prizes await the winners
in cash. From the prizes the schools might be able to buy something useful for
the students back such as stationery and notes for students. As we can see, it
really gives benefit for the students thru this program.
Next program is Excellence Awards STPM and SPM 2012. The program was
held on 27 Mac 2013 in the Auditorium JPWPKL Jalan Duta. As we all know, the
Local Agenda is not only cover on environment only, it also cover on others thing
such as this program. This program is really good because it can encourage the
students to perform well on their examination and it cans also encourage
students to do the best because they want the awards. Moreover, the program
also will build more intelligent and critical thinking students that can be
compatible with the other foreign students. The goods students will make the
good future leaders that can help our country to become a very successful
country in the eyes of the world.
Moreover, the next program is Project Star Excellent. This program is the
Workshop Smart Check UPSR 2013 and held on 06 July 2013. Project Star
Excellent was the project that aims to help the UPSR students to perform on their
examination. Even though, it just a primary school examination, but we cannot
take it easy because from the primary school the students learn everything that
will create them in future. Based on that, it is the reasons why the local
government really want to encourage from the academic program too. When we
have good students, it may create a good social living in future. One good
example, in Japan they really take serious to teach their child while they are in
primary school and as a result we can see that their people is more civilize than
our country.
Last but not least, in the program of Jom Bersih Bukit Bintang 3. This
program was held on 10 November 2012 in Bukit Bintang. The goals of this
program is to ensuring the cleanliness maintained in addition to educating
business people and vendors to do business with regularly and reduce waste
problems and so on in Bukit Bintang. The objective of the program is to educate
communities about the importance of hygiene, protecting and conserving the

environment, to achieve the City to 20 cities liveable (liveable city), to ensure

they have good working partners and contribution from local communities and to
prepare an action plan and an on-going program to ensure cleanliness is always
maintained and safe. This program is also important because it can give spirit
togetherness with the local community in the local government area and can
also make the place more better place to stay because the clean place can
prevent the citizen to get disease. Moreover, when have such as this program it
can help to save more financial money of local government because they dont
need to pay other people to do it, but the community have help them in terms of
the cleanliness environment.
For conclusion, all these program that have been done by DBKL is really
give a positive impact to the society on their area. The program needs to be
continuing and improve time to time to ensure that the citizen will get the better
place to live. My suggestion, the local authority can make more programs on
environment that can give the realization to the citizen to take care of the
environment because it is not the councils job only but it individual responsible.
When the country is clean and have a good civilize people, we ensure that it will
create more harmony and peace place for us to be living.
