Vision Statement
Life events can either break you or make you. It is said we learn from our mistakes, but
there are never enough lessons learned. My educational beliefs are that every child deserves
respect, and equal opportunities to succeed. Students should experience hands-on learning, as
well as learning based on their interest. I will provide students with a great opportunity to
succeed. This will require all support possible. My ideas on teaching have developed throughout
my educational experiences. My experiences as a minority student have built my expectations as
an educator.
In my classroom, I will strive for all students to demonstrate caring and respect for each
other. My belief is that no one should ever feel disrespected or indifferent. It is my responsibility
that all students, no matter their background, feel welcomed in my classroom. I will encourage
appreciation for each students cultural heritage, learning styles, interest, and needs (Learnercentered proficiencies, 1997). I will take my students ideas and feelings into consideration. It
will be a cooperative journey between my students and me. Together we will both manage and
have ownership of the room.
All physical environmental factors will be taken into consideration. Our environment has
an effect on our brain, physical environments influence how we feel, hear, and see (Jensen,
2005). Taking that into consideration, we will arrange our classroom in a way where we are all
comfortable. By allowing students to move around and express their opinion in room
arrangement, the classroom will be their second home. Our classroom will be a positive learning
environment for all students. As stated in an article in Edutopia, The physical structure of a
classroom is a critical variable in affecting student morale and learning (Phillips, 2014). The

classroom is not something we can just leave the way it is. We have to decorate and take action.
The environment reflects on the students learning.
As a teacher, I will provide rich knowledge based on content and technology. I will
attempt to stay up to date on all essential content areas related to discipline and technology use
(Learner-centered proficiencies, 1997), participating in professional development activities as
well as contributing with other professionals. I will use past experiences and provide childcentered education. My teaching will focus on students rather than on content area. Students
should experience various learning methods and identify which method works best for them. All
students have different methods of learning. I will encourage my students to try different
methods of learning until they find the best one. I will be there to guide them through every step
of the way. I will be a facilitator for my students, instead of a lecturer. In order for my students to
achieve at higher levels and develop knowledge-based skills, as well as social skills, we need to
take hands-on approach (Kagan & Kagan , 2009). I will teach, scaffold, and see them work
independently.
Essential communication is encouraged between students, teachers, and parents.
Students success depends on parents and teachers communication. Communication is a must in
order to accomplish major goals for students. As a teacher, I will facilitate communication
between cooperating teachers, administrators, community, and parents. I will provide parents and
students with an open door policy, encourage them to approach me with any comments,
concerns, or ideas for our classroom. I will send a monthly newsletter of upcoming projects or
events in hope of inspiring parents involvement in school activities.
The above is my vision as an educator. I will strive my best to make every student feel
welcome. Being an educator is not an easy task, but as long as you put your heart in it,

everything is possible. If at any moment my vision is not satisfying my students needs, I would
gladly look into it and make any corrections needed. Being an educator, I would love to have an
impact on my students lives, make a difference in society and within my community. As Nelson
Mandela said, Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world
(Durando, 2013).
