Item 1: LBSU 300
Follow up on how the course is working.

Ned explained that John is making suggestions to
tweak the course, Leigh Ann is speaking with those
at her campus who are teaching the course. Some
adjuncts are asking about the workload. So its an
ongoing process of improvement.

At Fall Adjunct meeting in Riverside, two adjuncts
asked for more guidance about the purpose of the
course. They had general questions about the book
and the course. Perhaps we need to reinforce for
adjuncts that they can contact the course developer.
(This is true for all of our courses).

John says hes shortening some of the assignments,
but by and large keeping them. Hes making some
adjustments in terms of aligning readings and
assignments, and is adding some electronic sources.
He is very appreciative of the lectures that begin
each week.

Item 2: In-Course Instructor Faculty asked about data from in-course surveys.
Surveys
Are adjuncts completing them?

instructors and send them to Ned, who
can schedule a brief Questions session
in Adobe Connect.

If needed, Ned can work on an FAQ
document for LBSU 300.

Melanie will inquire.

Agenda Items
Item 1: Updates on Multiple
Credential Program; ENGU
471/ENGU 420

Brandi explained that ENGU 420 will cover

language acquisition, which is more relevant for
multiple subjects students. The CT discussed
whether or not ENGU 471, which covers basic
linguistics, would be phased out after ENGU 420 is
introduced in Fall I 2014. There was concern about
articulations for ENGU 471.
Brandi explained that a new course, LBSU 403, is
being developed to replace LBSU 402 for multiple
subjects students. LBSU 402 was originally written
as a capstone for LBSU and Media and Cultural
Studies students, but to this point, it has been used
as a capstone for the multiple subjects students as
well. The fate of LBSU 402 is unclear

Discussion and Decisions
The objectives and signature assignments are being
discussed, which includes Leigh Ann and Rachel.
John is working on the LBSU 250 course.

Next Actions
Murphy is working on putting the
information in a readable format; Ellen
will update the ADs at LT next Monday.
Ned and the other ADs now have access
to Argos and can pull lists of both online
and campus instructors by class.
The CT will revisit this issue in January
when we are looking at catalog changes.

The CT will revist for future updates.

Next Actions
Because of the number of LBSU CT
members who are already on the multiple
credential team(and due to timing), it will

Item 2: RTA (Ellen)

All curriculum teams are working on a project to

create criteria for hiring faculty for each particular
course. Theres a file now, but it covers primarily
thenewer courses. This will aid both the Associate
Deans and campus directors in their recruitment of
adjunct faculty with appropriate credentials.

Item 3: Catalog Changes (Ellen) Anything requiring a catalog change needs to be to
Ellen before March 1.

Item 4: Leigh Ann Updates on The Team reviewed the course templates for HISU
History Course Revisions
358: United States History and Democracy and HISU

360: World History & Geography.The Team was
concerned about
the ability of faculty to cover the amount of material
addressed
by the current draft of HISU 358 in an eight-week
session, particularly with the constitutional
requirement also being addressed. Additionally, there
was some question as to the alignment of the course
description to the CLOS.
The Team thought that HISU 360, while still covering a
lot of ground for the eight weeks, might be focused
enough by its geographical emphasis to make it
feasible. There was a question about the phrase land
use in the course description.
Ellen went over the process for approval of these
Courses.

Item 5:

changesto the full LBSU CT

Item 1:ADA Review of Quant. Informational, Brandi noted that once MATU 206
Reasoning Requirement
and 207 are added officially, the review will not be

Item 2: LBSU 300 ILOs
Ellen and Brandi explained that we will be looking
at the course for GET as a place where an I
(Introduction) to all of our ILOs can be mapped.
The plan is to the add the P (Practice) to the
courses already mapped for M (Mastery).
