H.P.BOILER 30-1-D-725 (CONDENSATE DRIP RECEIVER )
DATE REMARKS
9/772010 | Initial inspection was conducted and found with moderate sludge
T&I | accumulated at the bottom section. Water wash was recommended and
after cleaning inspection was revealed. The shell and the heads were in
good condition with general pitting lake type was noted at the bottom
section to 0.100” deep. All accessible welds were found in good working
condition with pitting lake type was noted on the circumferential weld at
the bottom section as the shell. The top 6” nozzle weld overlaid was
found with pitting lake type to 0.050" deep. The nozzles ID's were free of
corrosion. The vortex breaker was in serviceable condition. The man
way, man way cover and the gasket surfaces were found in serviceable
condition .The shell bottom quarter was coated with APCS-2C to mitigate
the corrosion. UT reading was performed and found acceptable.

Subject: Drip Receiver 30-D-725
Importance: High
All
Under-deposit corrosion up to about 0.100” depth was observed at the bottom of Drip
Receiver 30-D-725. The long downtime allowed scale and deposits to precipitate and
cause this type of corrosion.
Recommendation:
To mitigate under-deposit corrosion, coat the bottom quarter of the drum using APCS-
2C. APCS-2C is suitable for service temperatures up to 250°F which is higher than the
operating temperature of the drum (200 to 230°F).
Note that the drum must not be steamed, during start-ups and shutdowns, without
artially filling it with condensate in order to prevent exceeding the maximum allowable
service temperature of the coating

T&L. Initial internal visual inspection revealed that the drum internal surfaces are
dirty with about 5 buckets of sludge and water deposits accumulated at the bottom
surface. Hydrojet cleaning was recommended and performed, After cleaning, the
drum was thoroughly inspected and found free of corrosion and in good condition.
‘All scem welds and nozzles were ie sound and in good mechanical condition. UT was
performed and found all readings are above the drum Tm. The drum was accepted to
‘be closed and_was put back on service on 12/26/2005.
