OneOC is proud to present our 2016 annual Holiday Directory, an easy-to-use,

compilation of volunteer and giving opportunities across Orange County, available
throughout the holiday season and beyond.
OneOC believes that anyone can serve. That is why we have volunteer programs
that involve community members of all ages, abilities and backgrounds; from
companies to families with young children to those looking for their encore
career, OneOC can help you help others.
For those who cannot volunteer during the Holiday Season, consider giving to the
community through other opportunities, such as nonprofit board service (page 5),
OneOCs Charitable Giving Cards (page 4), our annual five Days of Service (page
187), or various opportunities available on our Volunteer Calendar. You can visit
our website at www.OneOC.org to learn more, or contact us for additional
information at (714) 953-5757 or holidaydirectory@oneoc.org.
Your spirit of giving brings joy and hope to all. We look forward to hearing about
your experiences volunteering and giving, as well as the ways it has brought you
joy.

This Holiday Season, give the gift of giving.

OneOCs Charitable Giving Cards are a smart, easy and

impactful way for everyone to participate in charitable
giving and do good in the community. Charitable Giving
Cards are similar to retail gift cards, but are instead
redeemed to benefit any 501(c)(3) public charity in the
United States. It is the gift that keeps on giving!

HOW IT WORKS

1. Order Charitable Giving Cards online at

www.OneOC.org/GivingCards and receive a tax
deduction for your entire purchase
2. Give the card to celebrate a special occasion such
as a birthday, a job well done or this upcoming
holiday season
3. The card recipient goes to www.OneOC.org and
redeems card as a donation to benefit any charity
of his or her choice

THE PERFECT COMPANY GIFT

Companies can also customize and brand Charitable

Giving Cards with their logo, and give to their
employees, customers, vendors or business partners.
Custom Charitable Giving Cards are the perfect way
for companies to make an impression of excellent
corporate citizenship while supporting the charities
and causes their employees, customers, vendors or
business partners care about.

Order your Charitable Giving Cards today at www.OneOC.org/GivingCards

This holiday season, give your skills and time

to a nonprofit organizations board of directors

There are thousands of nonprots in Orange County. Each and every one of these nonprots requires
board leadership to change and strengthen our communities. With OneOCs Board Connection
Program, you can play a vital role. Board Connection teaches community leaders and executives the
skills necessary to successfully serve on a nonprofit board, and then connects prospect board members
to compatible nonprofit boards in need. And did you know? Joining a nonprofit board is a great way to
give back to the community while gaining leadership skill and broadening your professional network.

HOW BOARD CONNECTION WORKS:

OneOC trains prospective

board members on the
landscape of Orange Countys
nonprofit sector and the art
of successfully serving on a
nonprofit board

After completing the training,

individuals receive exclusive
access to OneOCs online
database of Orange County
nonprofits and their vacant
board positions

Using the database,

individuals apply for and
get placed on compatible
nonprofit boards

Research Assistants
We need a few volunteers willing to help us identify sources of assistance for families of
children with autism. Parents are overwhelmed by the demands that an autism

services and supports, the less daunted they becomeand most importantly, the more
available they are for the child who needs them.

drug related crimes, in order to financially survive, only because they
cant find legitimate employment. By offering convicted offenders a
second chance we are allowing them the opportunity and skill sets to

Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County
Irvine, CA
www.feedoc.org
Our mission at Second Harvest Food Bank is to end hunger in Orange
County. Our vision is that together we are creating a future where no one
goes hungry. Ever.
Product Selection Area (PSA) Support Volunteer throughout the year
PSA is a very important place within Second Harvests food distribution center. It is
where our community partners come to pick up food to take back to their organizations
to either prepare or distribute to individuals and/or families in need. This volunteer
would be the right-hand help to our Operations department. This opportunity would
provide you with the ability to directly support Second Harvests operational needs and
serve our community partners. We are looking for a volunteer to consistently commit to
one morning shift per week, Monday-Friday, from 8:00am-1:00pm for a minimum of 6
months.

Grocery Rescue (GR) Volunteer throughout the year

Grocery Rescue volunteers are vital for the effective and time-sensitive evaluation of
donated GR product, most of which is perishable. GR donors are grocery stores and
retailers that donate food they would normally discard but is still safe for consumption.
Current GR donors include Albertsons, Costco, Food 4 Less, Ralphs, and Vons. The
average monthly donation from a single GR donor is approximately 4,300 pounds of
food, or the equivalent of 3,600 meals. A consistent volunteer-force is needed as Second
Harvest grows to expand the number of GR donors. We are looking for a volunteer to
consistently commit to at least one shift per week. There are two shifts a day TuesdayFriday.

Childrens Cerebral Palsy Movement
Rancho Santa Margarita, CA
www.childrenscerebralpalsymovement.org
Childrens Cerebral Palsy Movement (CCPM) is a organization dedicated
to improving the quality of life and future outcomes for the 500,000
children affected by Cerebral Palsy (CP) in America, by designing, funding
and implementing innovative CP-focused rehab therapies. We are
committed to stand in the gap for children with Cerebral Palsy by
supporting innovative rehabilitation and research that can improve
quality of life and future outcomes. Together we are passionate about
reshaping our culture and transforming a diagnosis into a new destiny.
Wish List
CCPMs ability to successfully meet the needs of these orthopaedically challenged
children depends on the provision of specialized staffing for each class that ensures the
safety and success of each child. Specifically, each one-hour class will require the
facilitation of a physical therapist, a tenured dance instructor, a live musician, trained
doctoral student volunteers and payment of facility rental fees. As such, we would
benefit from:

Individual, corporate and/or foundation underwriting of our Community

Program that is budgeted at $57,000 for the first year. Although the program will
be revenue generating, the program will need to be substantially underwritten in
order to pay for the contract services of professional staff.

Given the projected delay in receiving NIH funding, CCPM would benefit from
receiving individual, corporate and/or foundation underwriting of a Larger
Clinical Trial. This trial is budgeted at $250,000.

Cerebral Palsy Movements Executive Director (see below).

national licensed partners, we use a long-term approach grounded in
exploratory dance education to foster the resources within each child to
innovate, communicate, and collaborate skills necessary for success in
school and in life. 100 percent of students who graduate from The
Wooden Floor immediately enroll in higher education. Our students
become change agents and beacons of hope within their own families,
their neighborhoods, our community, and our world.

Every nonprofit is passionate about its mission. But

desire alone is rarely enough to propel an organization
to achieve its goals.
With volunteer, training, consulting, coaching,
and back-office services, we help Orange Countys
nonprofits become as effective and efficient as they
are passionate about their missions. OneOC is uniquely
positioned in the community, a one-stop shop for
both the nonprofit sector and now, companies looking
to do good in the community.
Together, we accelerate the success of Orange County
nonprofits, bridging the gap between the reality of
what is and the bright possibility of what could be.
