Our Lady of Unity Catholic

School
2016-2017 School Year

Dear Parents & Friends,

I was blessed to attend Mass

at SH this weekend with Msgr.
Swetland. The Gospel was
about the 10 lepers who Jesus
cleansed, yet only one returned
to give thanks.
Msgr. spoke about the need
to always be grateful. Surely
we should be grateful for gifts,
but even more importantly, for
the giver. People frequently
show their love and admiration
for others through gift giving. A
grateful response shows them
that you care for them also.
Its easy to find ourselves
complaining about all kinds of
things that dont work out as we
feel they should. Perhaps we
would find greater peace by
waking up each morning giving
thanks to God for the gift of
another day and the people
with whom we get to share it.

PICTURE RETAKES

Students and staff who were

absent on picture day will have
their picture taken on Tuesday,
Oct. 18. If your child needs to
have their picture taken, they
may wear non-uniform clothes
in compliance with the dress
code on that day. They will not
change back and forth into
their uniform so it is not
necessary to send it. Please
call the office with any
questions. Thank you.

HEALTH INFORMATION
The nurse will be sending
home notes today that need to
be returned quickly. She will
also be contacting families
who have children without
complete health records. If a
student transfers from another
school, we do not always get
the most current records.

God Bless! Nancy Butters

VIRTUS TRAINING

SCHOOL UNIFORMS
Next week students will begin
wearing leggings under skirts &
jumpers or long pants. Tights &
leggings must be navy blue,
white, or skin tone.

There are three upcoming

Virtus trainings prior to the all
school field trip at the end of
the month. Remember that if
you are interested in being a
parent volunteer you must be
trained. The training is free
but you have to pre-register at
www.virtusonline.org.
There is a training at St.
Paul in Olathe Saturday, Oct.
15 at 8:30. It will be offered in
Spanish. There is also a
class at Holy Trinity in Lenexa
on Oct. 24 @ 6:00 and at
Sacred Heart Shawnee on
Oct. 26 @ 6:00pm

PARENT- TEACHER
CONFERENCES

All conference times have

been scheduled. Because
conferences are mandatory, if
you did not send in a request,
you were scheduled at one of
the times available on the
schedule. Grade cards and
MAP scores will be distributed
at that time.
Please call the office and
let us know if you will need an
interpreter for your conference

TRASH BAGS
Thanks to the students who
have been selling trash bags
after weekend Masses. We
would like to continue this
practice for the next several
weeks. Please call the office
if your child is available to sell
trash bags after any of the
weekend Masses at SJE or
SH. They will receive service
hours for this. Thank you.
