The Ellsworth girls golf team

assured itself a spot in the sectional tournament Tuesday for

qualifying with a third place
finish at the WIAA regional
tournament last Tuesday.
The Panthers shot a score

a sign of progress made after
the Panthers took sixth place
out of eight teams in regionals
last year. Head coach Carson
Huppert said they have shown a
great deal of improvement this
season.

the postseason begins, he will
see tougher competition.
The guys I see in state
who are running those top
times, they are running with
relatively better competition, Bell said. So they are
being pushed. I am trying to
push myself so I can learn
how to run without that guy
right in front of me, learn
how to lead the pack instead
of just follow behind and wait
until the last second.
The Ellsworth coaches
wished they had the opportunity to give Bell some more
competition as well. Head
coach Marcie Jahnke said
that has been one of a few
challenges for him this season.
There are no words, he
is a great runner, Jahnke
said. I wish we had a few
more opportunities to give
him some challenges out
there. Destroying the pack all
the time doesnt necessarily
improve him.

high school career is over.
Right now he is considering
Dickinson State University

and Hamline University as
places to run and further his
education.

a really nice school, classwise and athletic wise,
he said. They have a nice
cross-country team. And
Stout, too. Stout has a really
nice running program. Their

If I end up going to one
of those two schools, its
going to be so nice because I
feel like I belong there.
Bell said he is planning

before doing distance races
this spring in track. With this

Bell is determined to make
his final high school season
count.
I want to end the season
off strong, this season and the
track season, he said.
